Team,
I have bought an FX-79 buffalo from banggood instead of the X8 I was planning on. Looking at some of the videos the show the video tx being placed out on the wing. No problems with that but is it possible to mate a cable from the antenna to the tx over a distance of say ten inches.
Your thoughts please.
Not normally how it's done but it is possible.
However, it's much easier to connect a servo cable (in the event of using servo cable to take the video signal from your camera or OSD to the VTX) than it is to connect an SMA extension each time you put the wings on and off.
What's the issue you're having that makes you not want to put the VTX itself in the wing? The FX79 can take it... just make sure you put something else on the opposite wing to balance it out... or...
Why not just have the VTX in the centre section?
On my last build (Mini Talon) I ended up just putting the VTX on the front just behind the camera. I've been 8.3km out and back with the VTX there with no issues (1.2 800mw) and no special antenna either.
