This one looks interesting - especially for the MT fans.

Cant seem to find a fault with it...well maybe the price! lol
Will cruise at 4A with a 4S 4000 lipo = 1hr flight time
A 4S2P 18650 pack giving 6500mAh = 1.5hr flight time
'I can pretty much guarantee that there is not a more efficient *fast* FPV plane on the market right now.
It is extremely slippery so its efficiency depends on keeping external drag to a minimum, but even with all FPV gear and external antennas it'll do about 135mph in level flight.'
Want one!
:-)
Ooh, nice - glances at page... .eek, you weren't kidding about the price !
Interesting to get that sort of efficiency out of it. Looking at it's size/shape you wouldn't think it
It looks like a plane I can't remember the name of that HobbyKing did a while ago (I think!)
Man, what was it called?
Have to say it looks awesome! Very fast and agile :D
It looks like an NCFM M60 slope soarer that ate all the pies.
Saw this the other week, it does look really good and seems super stable for something that is only 1m wingspan! Would be a perfect plane if it wasn't for the price! Looks similar to the Nurf.
I'm sorry, but this is a blatant clone of another aircraft I've seen that also has wings, a fuselage and a prop at the back... how dare they...
something needs to be done about this
:+
Not saying it's a bad thing (it looks awesome), I just thought it reminded me of something - the Super Alula
https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?2150471-Super-Alula (https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?2150471-Super-Alula)
It's a clone of this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYYPGZEkh24 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYYPGZEkh24)
Which was inspired by the Graugans in this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrmIYT8V49c (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrmIYT8V49c)
They ought to be ashamed of themselves, I hope they give credit or some of the proceeds to those guys who they've CLEARLY copied from and then mass produced their own blatant clone.
This is more of a copy/clone than that TechOne wing is of the MiniRaceWing... and I'm not even joking anymore.
Super Alula for any old school pilots.
They were popular about 5 years ago.
Never really heard a bad thing about the air frame, the Alula that is. I know a few guys are teased to try out this new one.
Yeah it was a great airframe of you could get hold of one

The difference being neither of the ones you linked to are available for sale, or tried to go into production.
Frankly I don't care, it's about time we had a new airframe to be excited about - last one was the Drak!
In any case, who's to say they've not licensed the product?
I couldn't actually care less either.
I'm merely making a point.... people kicked off because a plane looked similar to another plane.... but no-one kicked off about this, mostly because of ignorance (the true definition of the word, not an insult btw).
I don't think anyone kicked off about it, and it was more than 'looked similar'.
Anyway, this has a blow moulded fuse which is interesting, and I guess that's part of the reason the cost is so high. It's probably a direct competitor for the drak, and given its size I'd definitely prefer that over the Drak.
Blow moulded is making it even more interesting.
One of the best features of a blow moulded fuselage is that it can be wiped clean - unlike EPO which just goes minging after a while.
I've watched some of the videos now.... wow :o
So exactly what are the delivery costs from RMRC. Obviously, we'd be looking at some nasty import tax, is the shipping stupid high cost as well ?

It's designed by the same person apparently.
I'm now wondering if I can scratch build something similar using my unbuilt X6 fuse, I mocked up something similar with my attempted Nurf build -

Maybe cut it down a bit and make deeper, less forward swept wings...
I had thoughts about converting my NCFM M60, one of these:
It's a really slippery design and could no doubt go like a bullet but to be honest I wouldn't want to wreck it as it's too much fun on the hills.

Group buy maybe? but cant see many ppl being interested tbh.
Im looking for design cons to justify not getting one - hehe - there's not many...
You need to keep FPV gear inside the fuze to keep the slippery qualities of the airframe.
You also need a largish landing area as it seems to glide forever.
You need deep pockets...
:-)
I just hate how nice looking, slippery aircraft end up looking like a bag of crap once you've hacked away to get FPV gear installed somehow.
It must have cutout points already if it's blow moulded so I doubt it's an issue. Then again, I know nowt

I'd maybe consider it. Worth noting that the $250 is the PNF version with electronics, it says in the RCGroups thread that they will offer a kit version also so that will be interesting to see what price point it is. Given it seems to use mini quad sized motors then a suitable motor and ESC won't be too expensive.
The launches in a few of the videos look...interesting, seems to need a good hard chuck to get going. Would be a shame if it was another Z3 - flies awesome but hard to get in the air!

Thats exactly what I was thinking, someone mentally challenged will end up putting a GoPro out in the breeze....
Theres no reason not to keep it clean really, fpv components can be mounted inside.

Someone in the UK on rc groups was quoting $135us for shipping ....plus the usual customs charges :o
Ive got one on the way :)
It isnt to bad considering it has motor/esc/servos installed already for the price
Did anyone buy one of these? Looks brilliant!!
Yea - very pleased with it too.
Fastest plane ive owned, with the stock set-up ive had 130mph out of it.
I use 3300 4S packs & get 20 cumulative miles out of it (the same packs on my MD get 10miles)
It can be a challenge to launch but I always leave the field smiling. :-)

So which do you like best - MD or goblin :)
Argh - that's a tough one!
The Goblin is definitely more efficient and MUCH quieter, so these points alone make it a winner.
The Goblin was EZer to build/get flight ready, however the MD looks sooo cool in the air so I cant really decide!
Get both?
:-)
Interesting badkands.
Are you using the stock cobra motor?
What's the hatch like? Is there room for an osd?
Yes - stock motor with APC 6x4.
There's plenty of room inside but because the fuze is blown plastic you have to install the gear thru the hatch opening.
Its tricky to launch because of the high stall speed but can cruise on 4 amps at 70mph.
:-)
Yeah that Goblin looks good, be ideal for a RunCam split to keep it nice and clean. I just bought a RunCam Split! I'm not all that convinced by Draks. They look cool but in all the videos I've seen they don't appear to have any exceptional characteristics over and above lots of other, cheaper wings. And most of them seem to end up in the dirt with the nose snapped off after a failed launch.
Ive flown mine a lot over the summer - its really enjoyable to fly - mainly because of the high speed & low noise.
RMRC are bringing out a nano version - sub 250g ready to fly...interesting...
