Hi All I need some parts printed to make 2 dummy radial engines for my 2018 show projects. This is an image of the print

I cannot seem to upload the STL files so if anyone is interested I guess I will have to find another way of getting the files to them. I am more than willing to pay for materials and shipping. The designer, a very clever cad designer who works for Mercedes F1 did the original print in PLA and that looked very good.
TIA

No one? Wow!

hey
what´s the size of this print?
Mike, I don't know but the total physical size when assembled is about 100mm dia by 40mm deep

If you can get the STLs to me, I can have a look at doing it for you :)
Hi Dave, I am trying to work out how to download the files to an iPad. They are in a Dropbox account
I understand that the cylinders are front and back so I would need 7 of each. The exhaust stack 1 front 1 rear. 1 hub

Given up, I'll do it on the pc

Cannot seem to get the files onto here so here is a link to the download site. Hope it works

Just had a look at the STLs.
There is a fair amount to print there, 11 hours just for the cylinders, thats per engine!
I have enough black to do the cylinders but not enough silver to do the other bits, are you OK to paint them? I can do them grey so you dont have to paint over black.
Let me know if you want to go ahead and I will crack on ;)
Hi Dave, thanks for looking, how about just the one motor to start with, that would be OK for me. Grey would be ok, I think PLE paints over OK?

No problem, yeah, PLA is paintable and will probably look better to honest.
Whoop whoop, here we go!!

Looking good.
What printer is that?
Dave, Tim Potter, the original designer, works as a cad design engineer for AMG MB F1, he designs the engine/gearbox mountings for the Arrows F 1 cars, something of a perfectionist as you can imagine. Sadly Tim's Father passed away last Sunday and as this is the first time this has been printed by anyone outside MB would it be possible to have some video of the print?

Drone 5: Its a modified Prusa i3.
Big T: Had a bit of trouble over night; the print failed after 9 hours so was all scrap :(
Im doing the exhaust bits at the moment which would be pretty boring to film. When I redo the cylinders I will take some video of that for you.
Thank you so much for the effort

Thanks Dave.
Being fairly new into the 3D environment I got a Flashforge Finder and it is serving me fine. The small build volume 140x140x140 is a bit of a problem, along with no heated bed. Now that I have some limited knowledge of 3D printing I have been looking at the Prusa and the CR10. I like the specs of the Prusa but the CR10 is a lot cheaper. Decisions, Decisions,
I guess it like everything else, you get what you pay for.

Well, its not exactly going swimmingly but Im getting there....
Every time I try to print all the cylinder parts at once, they fail :( Im now printing individual cylider sets and they have worked so far :)
Ive also now run out of black fillament so Im printing in grey, this is what I have so far with another cylinder set printing as I type :)

I also took some video of the last cylinder set printing, its 2 hours long so I will bung it through the editing software to speed it up a touch ;D
Thanks Dave. I have to ask, are you enjoying it? Hope it's not too much bother.

Always enjoy a challenge :)
No bother at all, I'm looking forward to seeing it complete.
Had a bit of time to spend on this today so I now have all cylinders complete and the exhaust bits shown in the pic. The hub is printing as I type :)
As promissed, here is a quick vid of one of the cylinders printing....with minimal editing skill ;D
That looks very impressive. Thank you.

Due to the very thin wall thickness on the hub its suffering quite badly from shrinkage during printing.
As I'm not familiar with what this is going on; would it be OK to increase the wall thickness a bit?
If yes, please let me know how much would be acceptable, its currently only 1mm, I would like to at least double that ideally.
Hi Dave, weight is not critical as this is going on the front of an Autogyro which actually always seem to need more front weight. As long as the extra is on the inside I don't see an issue. It could even be 3mm if that's easier.
