Hieee
Has any one updated their 91Q with firmware V1.1? also has any one removed the 2 capacitors?; am so behind with my toys but I've got a bit of time on my hands for some tinkering. I've got the 91Q case open and what a pain!
regards
I have a 91Q, didn't think there was a new firmware.

I'm hoping that this will solve the over stable copter issue!
And this mod too.

thanks mate I will look in to it.

Hmmm will dig mine out and update it, has anyone done it yet? what were the results?
Jim.
I've removed the 2 caps that sorts the magnetometer, these caps are tiny I stuck them on some tape so I don't lose them.
For the up date you will need the TTL USB cable from our Simon; also the up dating software will need to be down loaded. The software also enables access to PID. I'll test the copter later in the week, my first flights with it were quite good but at a different field the RTH was'nt that good; work took over and I never got a chance to play with it any more.
I have the lead needed if anyone needs to borrow it, I haven't got the 91Q in anything at the moment, so I haven't updated yet. I don't think I need to take out the caps on my one.

"placed an order with Simon yesterday" should be here maybe this lunch time. How do you know if yours doesn't need the caps off? I believe all the 91Q needed this mod? Mainly from having read the posts on the Malaysian forum a year or so ago.
I got in touch with UAV the people I got it from, he said although my one takes its time getting a sat lock, it will lock, he said not all of them needed the mod.
do I do it anyway.

Hi G
The issue isn't the GPS lock it's the magnetometer which it needs in order to navigate 3D space. My other copter has a similar issue with it's barometer which will be replaced soon.
If they were to tell us what batch was doggy then we'd know? My copter seemed ok for a while and then it would lose it's hold; I've fired up to see if the magnetometer holds up against a compass and it's spot on; pity I hadn't tried it first before removing the caps.
I think it may be the case that the magnetometer works intermittently, Fie-Yu have identified this as a work around so I'd say take them off but keep them safe and marked up in relation to the PCB just in case they are different values.
thanks for the tip bud.

Oooh if only I could get some Karma for it ;D
I got the TTL cable at lunch time and I've just finished the full "Monty" update to V1.10, I also run the parameter software to see what the setting are; it's going to be interesting to see if it still fights forward flight?

now how dose the thing com apart.

Hi G
"Oooooh" I feel some more Karma descending like manna from the blue! Now :-[....... But after trying to prying the top off in a sliding forward action and nearly skewering my finger with a screw drive, I eventually managed to open it using a tiny spanner by using the jaw as a leaver; I then, after opening it discovered that there was a screw hidden from sight by the QA sticker. I went into the bathroom and took a long look into the mirror to see if there was some goo coming out of my ears which would indicate molecular melt down of the brain but glad to say there was no goo but sadly it means I've found the reason for the whistling in my ear and that is there is nothing to stop the air passing straight through.
Look under the QA sticker ;)
I test hovered the copter in the garden and it feels very lively than I remember but there is a slight yaw which it never had but I do need to reset the gyros since the 91Q has sat for over a year. I get better test with my new lipos when they arrive am down to one at the moment.
I found my old FY dream catcher in the bits box and decided to do the mod, and unsolder the diode things, don't now what for, I won't be using it.
 G
did mine awhile ago and it did fly better, but I think a PID tune is needed to to make it less rigid. Oh the bits are capacitors.
Do you still have yours then, I'm like you and have the naza in my best quad and a wii in the mini one, I should try and get some cheep parts really and fit the FY, just to have a go, I have a spear AP117 to I could fit that in. it all cost a fortune at the time, thy still won't £120 knots for the GPS and Compass and it all just sits hear gathering dust

Yep I've got the X4-Pro dream catcher sitting in the workshop, but the Naza has taken over right now. I had mounted it on my other quad just for the OSD out put; as you know your AP117 will display an artificial horizon from the FY91Q so it might as well be used for that with the Naza.
