Well after a lot of reading and decision making my build is under way, originally I was gonna shoot for an X8 but thought a more conventional plane would suit me as a bigginer first so I've gone for the Skywalker 1900. So far I've done most of my wiring and got everything in place tied down and ready (almost) to join the two half of the fuse together....only slight issue I have right now is after bench testing I'm getting some slight and I mean slight interference from the esc, nothing too bad at all but I'm gonna try a toroid on the esc servo wire to try and clear it. As soon as I've got this finalised I'll post a few pics as I go starting from before I join the two halfs together.
When I started this build I thought there was loads of room in the skywalker, so everythings in place and all off the wire's are routed and there really don't seem to be that much room at all. (if you want to keep stuff separated that is.)

So far I'm very impressed with the results during bench testing, looking forward to the final joining and dressing it all up.

Sounds good Dan. The lack of room is more noticeable once you add auto pilots etc. Especially more so with all the modules Eagle Tree uses. An LC Filter will cure any ESC noise as long as your wires are routed well.
When you say beginner do you mean beginner FPV plane or first plane ?

Well this is my first FPV plane and any kinda plane this large. I used to throw a small park flyer about a field where i used to live but got bored with that. Moved onto my Raptor Heli but the catastrophic crashes that followed (several times!) kinda kerbed that. Although she is still sitting behind me fully built with new carbon blades begging to be smashed into the ground one more time!
To try and limit any further major losses I've been brushing up on my LOS albiet with a simulator but using larger aircraft to hopefully assist in my mainden flights which will of course be LOS till i get he set up properly.
Gonna take a few pics of my build this weekend, hopefully my torroids will arrive so I can get the LC filters put in and close it all up.

Well I've finally took a couple of pictures showing the insides and layout, I don't have head tracking yet or the channels too use it but I've installed the camera on a servo anyhow so I can add it later on. My toroid's arrived yesterday so will make up an LC filter and apart from my broken UBEC I should be ready to fit the two half's together soon.

I've reinforced the tail in a similar way to Coyote's skywalker. I didn't have any flat carbon fiber so used some 3mm rod which seems to have done the job.
Nice plane mate :) Looks nicely put together so far.
No idea what your flying skills are like but a but simulator flying can only go so far. Seeing as you've got a lot of time and money invested in that new Skywalker of yours I would suggest getting a small foamy to practice with.

I got a small mini-raven that takes like 400mah 3s lipos. (got a bunch of GC for £1.99) It's best thing to fly to get your skills up, it's the kinda thing you can fly in a small car park if you like, even in lots of wind. (it's more fun!)
Before I take a new plane up I have a blast with that thing, it's kinda like warming up. It's great fun to practice low passes, accidental touch and goes, flying under things, landing in your car boot, over water etc.. :) :)
Hi Dan, that looks a nice build. I could not see your Guardian installation, it may be stating the obvious but just make sure it faces the right way (arrow to the front) and the label is on top. I have mine on some velcro on the underside of the space below the wing (near your Futaba receiver). You be amazed just how many people install it wrong then raise a ticket on Eagle tree claiming it not to work. Good luck with the build.
The Skywalker is a pussy cat to fly but some experience on a much cheaper model would be good for your wallet in the long run.
