Does anyone happen to know where i can get hold of a short (no more than 3" or 4" long) EzUHF to Futaba trainer port connection cable.
I'm trying to keep the spaghetti to a minimum, but the cable supplied with the EzUHF is about 3 feet in length.
Thought i'd check before doing a DIY mod.
Hi mate, i don't know if you can buy one, you may have to DIY one out of a standard S-video cable & Futaba trainer cable.
If you're using Futaba take a look at my mod thread that uses ezuhf & connecting their cable to an old Futaba module so you can keep your trainer port free for other stuff. It's a real easy mod, you just need a standard S-Video cable, a rf module, hot glue gun, & a 100 Ohm resistor.
Then if you want to return to standard radio frequencies you just pop the module out & you're back to standard with no other mods to the radio itself.

thanks for that, i'm in the process of switching from spektrum to futaba and just waiting for a 12FG to arrive from the states.
If the FF9 type modules still fit, i'll have a go at this mod, looks like a very neat solution, but i'll still probably have to run an external 3cell lipo.
I'd not found a supplier with shorter cables, but did find someone selling the original futaba trainer port plugs so bought one of those for a DIY mod.
No worries fella. Thats one cool looking radio! I just picked up a cheap 9c to use with the uhf & am gonna fly 2.4 spektrum for everything else - los & short range FPV.
Does that thing not output any voltage over the trainer port? Sounds like you got it covered pretty much.
I took a punt on the 12FG from a company in NYC who were doing a sale price of $799 with 14ch receiver.
However, I do know i've been stung for duty, just not sure how much yet...
The 12FG and all newer futaba radios run on lower voltage than the FF9, so an external pack is a must unfortunately.
The stupid thing is, i had a FF9 for years for an "artfantasie lipo" heli project which never got completed and i sold the lot, thinking i'd never be needing the radio again.
Sounds like a good price mate. Hate import duty I get stung all the time - but it's nice when you dont!
Ah yes checked the specs, yeah that's a little low for the ezuhf - shame.
Doh! that sucks, I got mine for £120 from the BMFA classifieds, its a really nice one too, not the foocked ones you see on ebay for £185!!
