Hi all,
There are a good few of us meeting up on saturday at about 10-110am at the base of Mam Tor (Nr Castleton, Derbyshire) for a blast of FPV with our Zephyrs and other FPV aircraft.
People are MORE THAN WELCOME to come along and have a watch or indeed take part.
The video below is from my pre-visit to see what it is like for FPV and as you can see it is PRETTY DAMN AWSOME!!!!
DJI F450 QUADCOPTER FPV flying at Mam Tor - TBS Discovery. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5_7MbO1vGw8#ws)
The map for parking is here:

Hope to see you there for some FPV action...
The weather is also looking pretty dame fantastic for the day to, 5mph winds and slightly overcast with a low chance of rain.... GET IN!!!!
If you want anymore info either leave a post or PM me.
Simon.
Lipo's charged, GoPro's charged...
Almost Ready To Crash!!!
CAN NOT WAIT FOR TMOZ!!! ;D ;D
How did you guys get on? Mam Tor is only 30-40mins from me (sheffield), if you guys go flying out that way again, I'd love to pop by and learn a few things.
J.
Hi Red, welcome to the forum.
It was fecking amazing, the best days fpv I've ever had!!

Make sure you see all three vids
Oh we'll go back! Sure you can come too mate ;)
Wow, That looked like a reet laugh.. Glad he got his ZII back, shame it couldn't be saved. I've ordered a Bixler (for my first FPV effort) but it's on back order.. so who knows when that'll show up... then I read all seven pages from your Mam Tor adventure and it's left me wanting to sell everything I known to get a RiteWing.

£189.99 isnt too painful, certainly cheaper then ordering direct from Chris. It's the combined cost of all the FPV gear that's got me sweating.. an FPV build over the winter is a certainty. I'll create a thread and see if you guys can help me achieve my goal without having to sell my car and or girlfriend... ;D
J.
If it is your very first plane i would stay with the Bixler... the Zephyr are al little crazy to start with.
Saying that LOVE THEM TO BITS!!!
I have just put mine away for the winter now as I want to get it all fettled for next year.
I hae just bought one of these:

It is beyond good fun!!! Especially if you put a big motor a prop on it. Mine goes vertical non stop and must do 100mph on the way down
The best thing is the price plus it flys at walking pace to if you want it to. I hae mine all FPV'ed up now so this will e coming for a Mam Tor visit real soon!!
Glad you enjoyed the thread Big Red, it was a great weekend, Spooky was just glad to get his zed back in whatever condition - was so sad leaving it there on the hill overnight!
Lol, yeah ZII's will do that to you, you end up thinking "I don't care how, but I must have me one of those!" I love the way mine flies & wouldn't swap it for anything else! Gotta say as Teamftp said, zeds can be a bit of a handful if you're not used to a wing like that, but my god what a rush to fpv one!
Simon, that little wing looks great, I just maidened a hk tek sumo, that's a good little fun fly too! Might fpv that.
Also mate call or pm me if you're heading back to mam Tor anytime soon - I'm so in for that!!
I have/had a TekSumo, it was a great flyer.. it's my only model I really feel confident flying or did.. I've destroyed it a good few times and had a blast repairing it, but there is no coming back for it now.. all electronics are still good so might pick up the SwiftII as a replacement for it.

Happy TekSumo

Sad TekSumo
hahaha, The ZII is the dream but I dont want to run before I can walk, I'll FPV the Bixler or a SkyWalker maybe, get used to FPV then move on to the ZII. Being able to do what you boys we're doing at Mam Tor is the ultimate goal.
J.
Aww, mate. What happened??
Looks pretty bad, but cant you repair it? Just get some carbon rod, some random foam to use as infill & a shed load of glue!
I've repaired and flown a plane that went in nose first from 150 feet up at nearly full throttle, it doesnt look pretty but it worked, & it still flies. It got snapped clean in half & is about 2cm shorter than it used to be plus the wings were snapped off at the end - you'll be surprised what will fly again.
I'll bet that will too....

Windrider Scoutbees, Ritewing Zephyr 2s (and Skysurfers) are all coming to your friendly UK based FPV shop within the next week or so if you're interested? :-)
Now that sounds interesting!
I'm interested... need a new Zed II!

Simon that is great news.... Well maybe as I'm sure that's some more vital organs I will have to sell!!!
Firstpersonview just grows n grows!!
Simon
What's the price of a z11 kit as this may well be a winter project
As teamftp says more organs to sell
Or get the Mrs selling her body on the streets

I did fly again after that photo... pretty much did exactly what you wrote, BUT.... a few flights later I'm broke it clean in half. It's more glue then foam now.. I can't bring myself to throw it away mind.. so It's hung on my wall in the office.

Oooooo, Well, I may cancel my Bixler on back order at HK and pick up a Skysurfer maybe.. Maybe a Scoutbee for LOS wing action. All depends on prices I guess. Glad your gonna stock the ZII, thats on my wish list.
J.
Ah I see, glad you managed to fix it for a few extra flights at least. ;)
We're doing a special Sky Surfer cockpit too so that we can offer a properly RTF big FPV plane. Think Spyhawk but bigger and proper FPV gear. They're with UPS and should be here any day now.
The ZIIs were sent last Monday with USPS/ Parcel Force so I'm waiting for a letter from ParcelForce to pay the customs fees. Hopefully any day now... (The tracking is showing that they landed at Heathrow 06/11/2012 and as of 7/11/2012 they were "Awaiting customs charging"). I'll get them priced up and on the website tomorrow.
On the Windrider Scoutbees I believe they will ship this week by EMS so they'll be 2-3 weeks I should think.
Exciting times!
What sort of price are the ZII`s coming in at Simon ?

That sounds fantastic, exciting times indeed. The SkySurfer bundlee/package sounds very appealing. I'm heading to your site now to check on news.
