Upon my first fpv flight today I experienced a really bad glitching problem. I'm currently running 35mhz futaba radio gear with 5.8mhz video. Anything over about 20 meters and the quad was all over the place. Is there anything is should be doing to stop this happening?
I had the same problem with a Futaba 35MHz system I'd been using without issue on 2.4GHz for ages as soon as I switched to 5.8GHz.
The only thing you can do is to move the Rx and antenna away from the video transmitter.
Me, I ended up just buying a 2.4GHz Turnigy 9x system and it has been perfect ever since.
try moving the receiver as far away from the esc's as possible , thats what messed up my 35mhz system ,only had to shift one esc 5cm and all was good.
My 35mhz rx is against the back edge of my F450 with the video tx between centre and front. If I put the rx in the centre of the quad it will be equal distance from esc's. Where would be the best place to mount the tx?
I had the same problem with a trex 450 and that's why I changed to 2.4 and never looked back I have a 8FG and it has never glitched once or missed a beat. More than perfect radio.

mine was a tri but all i did was move the rx close to one of the legs and then move the esc on that leg further out.
as a good test take the props off , stick it at 1/3 throttle and take it for a walk , you can then move the rx around until you find your sweet spot , or see if there's something else causing it.
Its also worth sticking a capacitor/filter onto the esc that's powering your control board/rx to reduce electrical noise.
I think I'll try putting two cross members in. One across the front arms to site the video tx and one across the rear for the rx. From what I've read I shouldn't be pointing my tx directly at the quad as the radiation effect is donut shaped. I really need to attach some photos..
Made a few mods and had a quick test yesterday. Signal seems ok but I now have the problem of flickering screen. So it's back to the work bench! I think it's probably just a cable that isn't secured properly..

I've put it down to the receiver antenna flapping around. Is it best to leave it free and not attached or fix it to the frame?
leave it free I would guess , or build a base loaded one
