I am using a standard ar6100 at the moment but was thinking of trying a full range ar6200 with satellite are they much better anybody tried one on here.just wondering what the range difference is
I had a ar6100e but upgraded to Orange R710 instead. The benefit of this over ar6200 is that it's 7 channel, costs less and offers full failsafe rather than throttle only 'smartsafe'.
Just after getting a better range really don't need more channels because only fly 3 channel easy star but what's the failsafe all about.
You may only need 3 channels now but you'll probably want more in the future! ;-)
Failsafe is essentially how your reciever reacts when it no longer gets a signal from your transmitter. Either because you've flown out of range or for some other reason (low battery, interference, etc) you transmitter is not getting through.
The ar6200 in these situations does the following:

If you've got other switches set in your receiver to switch on RTH for instance then in the situation where you lose contact then you may want those to be activated so your aircraft flies itself home. If that's the case then you want a full failsafe rx.
The orange R710 provides full range and full failsafe. The ar6200 provides full range but only 'smartsafe' (and costs a lot more which is weird).
