Title: Taranis X9D Plus 2019 Internal Aerial Problem
Post by: wgt40w on November 12, 2020, 03:32:24 PM
Guys,
I recently started using a new Taranis X9D Plus 2019 transmitter (bought new) and have not been satisfied with the transmission range. On opening up the tx I saw that the aerial wire was not connected to any pcb.

It looks to me - if it should be connected anywhere, it should be connected to the solder blob in the red circle.

Can anyone please confirm ?

I'd say you're right, I found a couple of images off the Internet that might be of use.

Wow that's bad.

Won't that have done some damage to the transmitter module if all that energy couldn't go anywhere?

I thought there was an extra bvoard on the top of the PCB that it goes too, I'll have to check when I get in tonight.

All now sorted.
Believed antenna was connected until I 'opened up' the tx. However the antenna had only been very weakly soldered on with no covering silicon (?) or hot melt plastic blob covering the solder.
Transmission module not damaged.
