T12FG + EZUHF switch on 2 power sources - NOW SORTED

This Thread moves on from an earlier Thread re powering an EZUHF, which wants approx. 9.75 volts, when the linked to a Futaba T12FG, which only requires 7.5 volts.

Following advice from this Forum, my setup is:-

Futaba T12FG powered by its' own internal approx. 7.5 volt battery.

The tx 7.5 volts also passes down the Trainer cable to the EZUHF

The EZUHF ALSO receives a regulated 9.75 volts from a 3S Lipo, via the EZUHF DC input socket.

That's all fine, BUT

Am now trying to get EZUHF into bind mode - Hold down Bind button whilst powering on.

How the blink blink can I do that with 2 power sources ?

Do I power just the Futaba whilst holding the Bind button ? i.e. only supplying the EZ with 7.5 volts / Then connect the 9.75 volts.

OR

Do I hold the Bind button whilst connecting the 9.75 volt supply / Then switch on the tx ?

I have tried both ways and am not convinced that either has been right for me to achieve a proper bind with the EZ Rx.

I'm planning on using the EzUhf as a repeater with it's PPM input being supplied by a FrSky RX. There is a tiny bit of lag however, but I don't think it'll be noticeable for normal flying.

Much to my surprise - I've actually got it all working. For anyone with a Futaba T12FG, the setup is:-

Futaba transmitter
1) Remove 2.4ghz (or whatever) module.
2) Tx setup menu Go 'System' - 'Trainer' - 'Act/Inh' Set to ON; 'Teacher/Student' Set to 'Stud'; '12/8 Channel' Set to '8 CH'; 'Modulation' Set to 'PPM'

Note: By all means try setting '12/8 Channel' to 12CH - I didn't need to AND there are some reports on the net that there may be / or was a problem with the 12CH software.

BINDING
I switched on the Futaba T12FG transmitter with the EZUHF only powered by the 7.5 volts coming through the Trainer lead from the tx WHILST holding down the EZUHF Bind button. After releasing the Bind button I then connected the seperate 9.75 volt supply coming from a 3S Lipo.
Connect up power to the (plane) Rx and quickly press and hold for a few seconds the rx bind button. Release rx bind button; switch off Rx; switch off Tx. Start up Tx again; connect Ez rx as normal and all working - Hurray !

with my 8FG I done the bind process only using the power from the trainer port, no external power source for the EzUHF as the EzUHF will still work fine using the power supply from the trainer its just your distance will be limited but for setting up and binding etc I've had no issues with using the normal power from the trainer port, may be different with the 12FG though
