Naza RTH saves the day

Now that the field is dry my buddy and I decided to have a nice Sunday FPV, he wanted to test his new 2.4Gig module and I needed to test the Naza RTH.
There was racing going on at the speedway but usually it just give a bit of video noise; but not to day! My first FPV flight went well there was no race on, flew around for 10 minutes landed and changed battery then did my first Naza RTH test and it was perfect. My next flight a race started a moment after I took off and the rest is in the video. Like everyone I'm very impressed with the Naza; I haven't posted HD, am fighting the jello and am loosing; my props and motors are balanced, I've got new motors coming to carry the weight.

How didn't the Naza GPS get confused?

Damn it takes ages though, it would suck for RTH to kick in with only a minute of viable battery life left

Amazing! Phew eh? I used to hate flying at Strubby on Kart race weekends. All those people with their mobiles, computers and the engine noise electronic and audable. Recipe for a furrowed brow.

How didn't the Naza GPS get confused?

I don't know! but I'd done the Naza magnetic field calibration especially due to the fact this area is rich in iron ore which was mined until Mrs Thatcher closed the steel works by importing cheep iron from Russia. I assume Naza was using both the compass and whatever GPS it was getting, I mean the way it turned and pointed straight at the cars wow.
Poor me I held onto the TX "like I'm ready to save you Naza" My baddy just kept saying don't worry keep you goggles on and enjoy the ride but I couldn't.

Ahh next time I'll put the kettle on and have a cuppa :laugh:

No, cos I've had 1 lock out in over 30 years of flying and my buddy has had 5 lock out" brown outs" in the last 6 months on 2.4 and since I have a good idea what caused it I'll be more careful when a race is on. The Tx was my JR9XII but I also have a Futaba 9CP-super that's good for 2k. I'll look at my instillation closely in the next few days when I build a new X650. I've thrown a £1500 heli about on site while the race is on for a few years now with the same TX with just the odd fail safe twitch.
