If Open Pilot had got their act together and released this shortly after Copter Control they could have had DJI's position now.

Its a strange outfit of people doing it for fun with no commercial angle.  Which is hard to get your head around.  Or it is for me at least :-)

Thankfully not everyone is all about profit.

I'm still waiting for my revo, you have to be really patient with these guys!

The Revo board is not only a 600Hz control loop  (500Hz for CC3D), but also a built-in bidirectional 1.6km range radio link, and a number of spare ports for connecting other sensors. . . . Thanks to higher horsepower of the STM32F4 processor, the control algorithms can use pretty advanced maths, not like your average PID from undergrad course . . .

Thankfully, it's not like DJI, it's not about profit. The software is open source and anyone can add whatever he likes to it . . . . best additions stick :-)

DJI sells their multipoint-navigation package for $$$, whereas from the open source point of view, it's just software . . .

When speaking to them a couple of years ago it just felt like they needed someone to take charge and give them a bit of a shake to finish the project.

The lead guy was apparently a millionaire and didn't need to work so there was really no incentive to finish it.  Which is a shame because I reckon they'd be top of the tree now if that had come out 2 years ago.

Even without a financial angle per se they could have all been employed working on something they love.

Its taken so long that by the time its nearly finished each time they think "Hmm, the hardware has moved on.  Lets redesign it on newer hardware"

Hopefully this the Revolution will be amazing and push the industry forward again.  I love/loved Open Pilot Copter Control.  I've got 3 of them.

All the best

Sounds absolutely awesome!  I can't wait for this!

Still waiting on mine too - I believe they have started shipping.

;D ;D ;D ;D

Yes they are shipping out. They're going out slowly, each board being tested and flashed by Dave. I was one of the first orders placed and have been testing for a few weeks now. Flight performance out of the box is amazing. Do some tuning and it is so silky smooth. Now back to the testing!

Shikra

Shameless plug !!

Any on / off board videos of this yet?
Must admit I flogged mine to standardise on config, but always good to try out every now and again.
