F450 -> Phantom Conversion.. Stupid idea? :P

I LOVE the simplistic look of the phantom, I also love its small form factor and the prospect of the zenmuse gimbal for it excites me further  :-X

As a bonus there are plenty of cases that the phantom will fit inside even with the landing gear fitted.

So my question is:

Am I being a foolish fool if I convert my F450 to a Phantom.. The body and legs will set me back around £50 and I will use my F450 motors and ESC's.. as for the arm LED's I can make them myself with some super bright LED's and a bit of strip PCB..

If I do embark on this stupidity will I realistically be able squeeze an EZOSD, vTX, RX and Telemetry module inside the body?

I phoned up Martin @BYOD as he had some Phantom shells in stock and told him what I wanted to do.. He pointed out straight away that there was no way on gods earth I'd get the OPTO ESC's inside the arms of the phantom :( I also realise that the GPS compass will need to be mounted on top as the standard NAZA GPS & compass are one unit where as on the Phantom the compass is inside one of the legs.

I think the ESC's could be mounted under the arms like the F450 but it would look rather messy..

Also after studying a few pictures of the internals of the Phantom I think building a power distribution board out of a piece of PCB wouldn't be too much of a problem and the EZOSD, Current sensor and Naza unit would all sit nicely in a line :)

how about using a Quattro Esc 20/25A, would that fit?

It would use up too much real-estate in the middle of the quad which is needed for other stuff :(

The Phantom ESC's are custom and live in the arms (they also have LED's on them for orientation) they are only around £12 each but £100 to convert my F450 doesn't sound as nice as £55 :D
