The (not so) Maxi Swift has shrunk again!

I love the way the swifts fly, I think its mainly due to their deep root cord but the Maxi Swift is bearing on impractically large and the Swift II is just a touch too small and once you add the available extension piece the root cord shrinks and they don't fly as stable.

Here is the full-size Maxi Swift during building:

Originally (and after flying it for a few months) I took a whole 200mm from the centre of my Maxi which reduced the length to around 1200mm (and renamed it the Midi-Swift):

After re-calculating the CoG (using this awesome site: http://fwcg.3dzone.dk/ ) the wing flew even better than it did when it was longer, it turned faster but still had a great glide ratio.

It also meant the wing would fit in my boot!  :P

Last night I had some free time while the misses was watching some crap on the TV so I decided to take a Jig-saw to the wing tips and I removed 80mm from each side to produce the now even smaller Maxi Swift:

The CoG shifted back about 12mm so I've had to add a little weight to the nose but she flies great (managed to blag quick flight last night 'while walking the dog') :D

I think I'll now rename her The Franken Swift.

I'm very tempted to order a fresh wing and chop 400mm out of the middle and get the CoG perfect.
