Hi there,  I could do with some advice on purchasing new AE for the FS Predator V2
I am just about to purchase them via hobbyking.  they are a great setup for me as a newbie into FPV.  Once I am more experianced i will then start playing with different kit to get the optimum setup but this i feel is perfect for a first step.

Now my question is :

on the Hobbyking site it recommends upgrading the AEs to  - SpiroNet CP antenna set (dramatic improvement over stock dipole antenna)

Now do you think this is a must with this gear? or just a luxury I dont really need now?  I mean how good are the stock AEs?  I would like to push out to at least 1.5km max at first.  will the stock AEs allow me to do this or do you think I should just upgrade right away so I dont hit any limitations when I start?

cheers, lrosm

Just mention on Bignose13's thread what you think you might need and he'll sort you with good quality (and fast delivery) aerials, no need to bother with HK.....

I've got the stock Predator kit & when I first got it I tried it out to find out what sort of distance I could get, on the ground just walking away from model with goggles I found I could get about 1 Km, I'm sure that would give you more in the air but I've never checked it, (you might even get the 1 1/2 Km your'e after)I have since fitted a pair of skews that I got from one of the lads on here (take your pick there's a few lads doing them) & they'll only improve things further. Best of luck.

somewhere on here there's a thread by IB crazy about it all, it's from youtube. the basics are, the supplied antennae will work fine if they are both bolt upright and there are no major structures for the signal to bounce off. add structures and flying (changes of Tx angle) and you'll not get far at all. for the price, get a pair of scews, you'll get reliable range and no ghosting.
OMG, IT FLIES!

cheers all, sound advice, I think I might just treat myself to some quality AE's from here & be done with it.  So I am good to go from the outset!
