Ah, Morning campers, time for another vid.... Finally flew the PBY this morning. She flies really well. I need more negative EXPO but apart from that... Blimey though, a really difficult spot to fly, so many trees waiting in the slips.... makes my other lakespot look like a breeze.

Enjoyed that flight, but not the "arrival".
Good luck with the next flight and remember to flare a bit. Get it right and you can skim across the water, but unlike the ground you don't really bounce on the water.

... Cheers.. yeah, I watched this one vid about PBYs, one of the pilots featured gave the advice...' Just keep her level on the water'........mantra..'Level on the water....level on the water.... so I tipped a wing in!!   :laugh:

They aren't especially it's just that any sun-optimal landing usually gets punished.  Like electrotor says where on land you'd perhaps bounce and go around or get another go further down the strip on water it's not so forgiving.

Beautiful plane that GJ, unlucky on the landing. I think if I was going to try this I'd try to find a paddling pool somewhere in a park, the kids will sharp move out of the way haha

Hi Granpaw Jonah sorry to see her in that mess at the end but she seems to fly well plenty of go to get off the water :D

Not the sort of landing for seawater so i suspect you were pleased it was a freshwater lake but to be fair thiose tree,s are doing you no favours, with no time to flatten out and lose your speed  :+
I think you were doing well till that wing drop  :D

Cheers Guys.... admission time.... the wing dip..... I thought I'd just head her a bit more into the wind... blooming ridiculous at that late stage.... So.. another novices mistake from an old timer wot should know better!!  I'm always watching vids on t' tube and thinking 'What a tosser.... what did you do that for?'... crashing.... so easy, loose concentration for a split second and...........       :laugh:
  Snow skis have just arrived for my DHC-2, so the next vid should be snow fun!! Come on snow, February's the time....
