I carry spare goggle lipo,s and also spare fpv lipo,s they are very similer size when in a hurry one day i fitted the two cell lipo to my EZ fpv by mistake all i got was a black screen no picture :(
Convinced things were awray i went back home only to find my mistake. :+

A 12v camera will not work on a 2s lipo so get yourself as the guys have said already a 3s lipo for your fpv gear i run with a 800ma lipo for my planes and a 500ma for my copters i always put a fresh one in for every flight never had an issue other than that day :D

just my two pennies worth
ps i used to fly out to 1k with rubber ducks when i started with no problem other than lines appearing when i banked my EZ
dizzy :)

The sky is for byrds and fpvers

Thanks for the info...I have gone ahead and bought a 3S 5000mah to power my ground station.

In the air I am now going to use a switching voltage regulator to drop my 4S 5000MaH Lipo balance output down to 9V, and plug VTx/Camera into that. Just waiting for battery now from HobbyKing,
and a bit of soldering for Camera to VTX lead, Balance port to Voltage regulator to VTX and
soldering connector to go into 12V DC Input on my ground station from the 3S 5000MaH.

All sounds good, yet I do need to get another 3S from somewhere to power my gimbal...and solder a
connector to the board for that ;))

Ok Guys, Still got problems ://

Since my last message, I have used a voltage regulator (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LM2596-DC-DC-Switching-Adjustable-Voltage-regulator-Buck-Converter-Power-Supply-/281218773432?pt=UK_BOI_Electrical_Test_Measurement_Equipment_ET&hash=item4179f1f1b8)

to tap the balance port of my 14.8V 4S lipo and switch it down to 9V for my Vtx and Camera.

Once soldering this up, I once again tried to get a picture...to no success.

I still get the blue 'no signal screen' and the very occasional black screen with a bit of snow before
stitching back to blue in an instant.

I double checked the voltage going to the Vtx, but since I do not have a digital multimeter
I had to use a battery checker, which apparently said the output was 14.8V-plenty to power camera
and Vtx?!!!!

Have no Idea what to do now. ://

Can you draw down a quick but accurate diagram of how you have everything wired up ?
Education and schoolin is good, but FPV is gooder :)

John7845

Right, so basically I have Video, ground and power going from Vtx to Camera as normal.

Power leads go from Vtx to Switching Regulator output terminals, the input terminals connect it
to a 5 pin header, which then goes straight in to my Balance port, going to the outside red
and black wires.

John.

John7845

Well camera Vtx can take up to 25V input, so I don't think that is too much of a worry
using a 14.8 V max input.

Interesting about the 5V output though?.....

An immersion Vtx outputs 5v to the camera. According to your diagram you have the camera on 5 volts which is why it will not work.

First make 200% sure you have the PSU set at 9 - 12v If you can`t make sure of that buy a £10 multimeter and then make 200% sure your at the correct voltage.

Then with the Immersion Vtx like this :

Here is a quick video I did to show it more clearly

I have turned it down to 9V, just turned it up to 14.8V for a try becuase
I thought camera was not getting enough.

Ohhh, well in that picture of wiring it tells you to bypass camera supply and get power
off main supply, is this because Vtx supply is only 5V, so not enough, so bettet to tap
main supply and get the full 9V?!

I'll try it, makes sense though
Thanks so much, I owe you one! :D Will give it a go and let you all know :D

Thanks so much, just isolated the cable and tried touching it to the voltage regulator to get
direct current, immediate picture!!! :D :D :D

Will solder a wire onto the + output to tap the currrent and feed it to the camera tomorrow.

I will set the voltage regulator to 12V, however I will need to find a digital multimeter as mine
is only analog so is very hard to see direct current reading :((.

Thanks all so much for your help, I wish I could have known this earlier but hey ho, at least
I have it working now.

John.
