Started work on my mini zephyr.

It will have a

200mw tx,
suppo osd
Skylark art
Mini camera
Frsky RX

Receiver, servos and each installed.

Just waiting for the OSD to turn up in the post so I can get those bits sorted!

I hope you have a big battery!
I had to cut the nose off and move it forward about an inch and a half from flush to get CG in the ball park.
I also took the opportunity to put in a g4 floor to the battery bay so a 2200 fits now.

I hope to maiden mine soon.

Interesting difference in motor size between the two planes :)

Looking good Rob!

EDIT: Have to say that the large ally motor mount seesm like overkill. The FlyingWings Falcon just uses a chunk of foam and a piece of ply. Cheaper, lighter and more crashproff. (The only posssible plus for all is that the ally may act as a heatsink so you can run a few more amps, but I would argue just get a bigger motor will work better)

I am using the motor from an old HK rad jet.

Light, and very powerful. In ground tests, I should go vertical.

You can see in the above pictures - the 2200mah battery works OK.

I had to cut the foam well out, and put a 1mm ply floor in.

Got the flappy bits on this one. So next is to put some colour on, and get the odd in.

Can anyone confirm the exact cog for me?

I currently balance about 10mm in front of the rear spar. Just inside the back press formed well.

the motor on mine is from a funjet that I bought of a bloke in the flying club, he'd built it to do over 100mph I don't think it was that fast but it did move along nicely, I figured as a funjet is about the same size I'd stick it on. looking at the other motors, perhaps that was why I needed a long nose job on mine...

First flight done.

Only a quick los flight to check things are OK.

The good news. It goes vertical!

The bad news.

I stripped an servo. So need to extract and hook up a replacement.

My cog was slightly too rearward. It made things very unstable. I gave now added 10g lead up front - so that should do the trick. Next flight will be in a few days :)
