tricopter taking 40+A on hover.

took the tri out today what a nice day :) "rcecplorer.se tri v2.5 style, finally got the apm 2.5 to update the minimosd with data. only to see its drawing 40-42A on hover. put 2 new 2200 3s turnigy nano's through it and got 8 minutes before the 10.5v minimum warning flashed.

then put 4 2200 3s normal turnigy and was lucky to get 4 minutes before the warning with 1 only lasting 2.5 minutes.
is this because the discharge on the normal 2.2 lipo is 25-35c and the nano's 25-50c?

as the normal ones are now looking rather puffy.

40a on hover seems really steep to me my 3.2kg quad only takes 24a have you got missmatched props and motors ?

just my two pennies worth but the higher the C rating the better for large currant draw anyway, i use 35 to 50 on my quad and tri copter :)

what motors and props are you running?

sounds like you're pulling a lot of A for a tricopter in hover

My Y6 ,weight  6.450kg takes 65amps during hover.
Soemthing is wrong there in your setup.

all motors are dt 750's,
18a turnigy sentry esc's, with only one using bec to power rear servo
props are EP 1047.
hovers just a tad over half throttle.

fully loaded up with old gopro hd inc case and battery ready to fly its 1323g

Prince my quad weight 650gr takes 13amps to fly  :o so 40amps to hover 1323gr quad semms bit overkill.
try smaller props 8" 9"

Something will almost certainly be getting hot if there's any kind of problem.  Just touch all the motors and ESCs after it's been hovering for a bit.

i ordered some nanotec 2200 30-70c Dizzy just in case. as my non nanotec well they were useless.

i always thought if you was hovering over half stick try going up a size prop not down marcin?

just ordered a wattsup meter just to check if apm 2.5 is being thick or something.

got the watt's Up on it today Tri according to that is pulling at full throttle.
25A 270w. so i think apm is being thick, need to look into that

also did my bixler fpv with everything on it at full throttle
29.1A 300w.

took some holding on to also lol
