I remember that :) Here is one of his flights with it, although at 55 amps draw to get just 38km/h from it it doesn`t really scream that much of a great long range. But a 2 hour 48 min flight time is impressive.

0.63km/min 168 mins flight time = 105km range

Education and schoolin is good, but FPV is gooder :)

He has not took it that far yet to my knowledge, but I did find this one with his cruise down to 15 / 16 amps at just under 40km/h so that sends the figures way further up

Yeah I'd be worried about hand launching that too. I suppose if you had a competent helper they could give it a running start, with enough thrust it should be ok.

Though a dolly seems like a great idea. If you gonna lug this plane around then a dolly isn't much more to carry.
