Head tracking with Predators and FrSky Taranis

Can anyone point me to a step by step tutorial on setting this up. I've read snippets about PCM mixes but am still a little confused.

rob.thomson

Its very easy with taranis.

Just set the source for the mix to be the PPM channel.

So... For example

If CH07 has the pan servo plugged in.

Mix setup on radio would be:

CH07 SRC PPM8

Or CH07 SRC PPM5

Etc...

Whatever comes in on the ppm line for the tracker - is then mixed yo CH07.

Make sense?

I had written that up this morning Rob, then to double check  I did  it with my Taranis just to check I hadn'missed anything. I did the obvious, Weight - Max, Switch assigned, Replace instead of add or multiplex but then hit a snag .....

With the new Taranis firmware, source now longer has any ppm options. I was late tor work so didn't have time to look into it, but the option is no longer there
Education and schoolin is good, but FPV is gooder :)

Cheers. I'll have a play later. Fortunately I have not upgraded my Taranis firmware!

Good point.

Under opentx 2.0 you would crest an input with the source of PPMX.

Then use that input as the source to the mix.

I assume I set Trainer on the Taranis to "Slave" ch5-8" and leave the other uf settings alone?

When I plug in the headset the TX shows the input slave icon, but I can't get it to register any movement from the tracker. I'm adding the mix to my ch6 (my tilt channel) and assigning PPM7 which is what the headset is set to. Just not getting anything

RogerD

Scratch that. It's Master. And I got it working.

Now the next "issue". My tilt channel is trimmed specifically so the slider on my radio at "full top" = horizontal camera and "full bottom" = camera looking straight down. So servo centre is somewhere about 45 degrees down.

Now the head tracker mix doesn't let me enable "trim" - I assume as it's a PPM channel, or the master mix on channel 6 is already trimmed. Either way, when I enable the head tracker mix (replace) I get some upward movement (unwanted) and limited downward movement, as it's seeing the centre of the servo travel untrimmed. Not sure how to resolve this.

Also, the Predators have a very annoying habit of switching off HT if you look too far up or down. You have to press the little HT button on the Preds to reset it each time

You can disable the limit on the Headtracking I think.
I know you could on the AttitudeSD's

It's so sort of safety thing they thought they would add.
Never had it on my Predator V1's and then got the AttitudeSD and found out about it.

FPV:-
Mini Talon & MFD
Sky Cruise 2400 - Cyclops Tornado - 700tvl
Skywalker v6 - Cyclops Tornado - 7

Got it sussed now. Added negative offset and loads of weight to the mix.
Sorted!
