2.4ghz reflections and lock out's

Before asking questions I tapped into the extensive threads here on the Hub  :)
To give a bit of back ground info... I have a coastal flying site and I recently had my first FPV (albeit short  :+) and when doing a LOS flight after the FPV I was flying downwind over water and the Tx link was lost for about 2 seconds  :o
It came back and I quickly made my way back to home! it was only 200 mts out and 40 mts high. those 2 seconds were not critical as it was in level flight but still worrying to say the least,
One of the sites I visited stated that the Rx can receive a reflection from water or wet sand that can cause problems...
Have any of you experienced this problem?
I am thinking of using my 35mhz JR Tx and receiver instead of my spectrum,
FPVUK.org also state that 35mhz is much better as the range is further and less prone to lock outs,
To be honest I have never lost Tx/rx control using my 35mhz set,
let me know your thoughts and what you use for Tx/Rx

Do a search for 'Spectrum brown out' on the Internet and then get upset with your choice of radio!

35mhz is a decent option, I flew on that for a while, got out to past 2.5km with a Corona receiver and a Futaba 6EXA. You do need to extend the antenna and it gets quite long, like 2m or more so unsuitable for some aircraft.

It is glitchy though,enough that you don't want to fly too low or near stuff. Better to stay up high.

Good thing with 35mhz is that you learn the range on the glitching, as it starts to get worse you know to turn back around. It won't ever lock out.

Frequency is an issue, get a frequency monitor.

Cheers Coyote and dogzilla, having thought about it... I am gonna stick with 2.4mhz as I just couldn't risk being shot down by someone local checking his 35mhz Tx before going to his local flying club,

These are both DSM2, I think I am right in saying the spectrum 6i can use both DSM2 and DSMX but what's the difference? is there any range or resilience benefit to using a specific type?

DSMX is better than DSM2, and you can get that in 8 channels with two sockets for remote RXs from orange.
