Futaba 8 upgrade to output 12 channels ?

I was just watching a video last night from a reliable source and he claimed Futaba were releasing a firmware upgrade for the Futaba 8 so you can configure it to output up to 12 ppm channels.

Why would they give it away for free ? So you buy their 14 channel rx`s t a high price.

But if you run uhf, then ou dont need the rx`s and could just get the channels for free :)

Does anyone know of this ?

Actually, it's 12 + 2 channels. As I understand it's basically the same software as the Futaba 12FG(12 proportional plus 4 switched channels). Problem is it's likely going to have the same problem being used with UHF LRS systems as the 12FG, a variable frame rate. It would appear that UHF LRS systems do not play well with variable frame rates. Although, a poster on another forum has linked to a device that re combines the PWM pulses from the Rx channel o/p's into a CPPM pulse stream of a fixed frame rate.

Ah thanks, so there is some truth to this. It could be handy, but adding more complication if you want to use with UHF stil :(
