Danaus Mini Quad... Prop saver?

Having enjoyed the mini quad vids on here it would seem the amount of shredded props is severe.  Gemfan graveyard!  I saw this frame which weighs in less than a QAV250.  Its a bit pricey i suppose ($169) but might save you a small fortune on props?

Depends on whether the extra pieces of frame around the props will catch the wind, and if the weak point is then passed from the prop to the thin carbon prop guards... you don't want those breaking, they look expensive.

I'd have to break one hell of a lot of props for it to start saving money - compared to the cheapie ZMR250 frame

That frame wouldn't last one decent crash - props are really cheap.

My record is 22 props in a day's racing - around £8 worth, I spent more on petrol to drive to the meet ;)

I think the point of that frame's design is to protect people and property from the props, not to save cheap props.

Without wishing to sound like a sanctimonious git it's much easier and safer to do that by not flying near people or property.

Inspired by the popular QAV250, the Lumenier Danaus is a mini FPV quadcopter with integrated prop protection. The frame is constructed from 2 large unibody frame plates utilizing a Carbon Fiber with Glass Fiber laminate. Like the QAV250, the Lumenier Danaus features a power distribution board and a FPV board camera mounting plate. Equipped with a 5" inch prop and a 3s or 4s power train, the Danaus makes for a great trainer or obstacle course flyer.
Mini quads are tons of fun in tight spaces, but the problem is that once a propeller strikes an object, you'll crash and your props will need to be replaced. This is no longer a problem when flying the Danaus! Now you can fly without fear of breaking props so easily, navigate tight quarters, and explore places you never could before. The Danaus guards your motors and props in all 360 degrees, and you can even pin it to the ceiling without the props hitting. Save your props, fly a Danaus!

I stand corrected lol, a half decent crash and even if you just crack one of the prop guards you've got a whole top and/or bottom plate to replace.

just for the record...... i'm not a retail supplier or buddy code merchant.... i'm not saying the items are good/bad or anything else.  I'm simply posting to pass on info and see what else is out there.....and generate discussion

replacement plates are $44 each so yeah ... pricey in a fall!
