Twinstar close flying at the Gare

Trying out my printed dampened mount with tilt now as a feature. It worked really well, not perfect but miles better than my previous hello vision from the twinny.

very nice ian, gary  it was your early days of the twinny that inspired me into fpv the video was the one over the moors been trying to find that video other day ... loved that video soundtrack to boot

I learned to fly FPV on that twinstar and after 6 years with estimated over 1000 flights in total I decided to scrap it as part of my garage clean up. Still flying but starting to look a bit rough. And still running all same original gear - 35mhz !!  no rth or anything fancy

Seriously tempted to build another...and why I'm following Ians TS story. You'll always remember your first fondly :)

I really do like the Twinstar Gary, its one of my favorites to fly along with the Solius for just really nice predictable characteristics.

Nothing fancy But the front pivot area was made higher to allow a servo to fit underneath to raise and lower the mobius.

he he, with ref to the first amazingly there was yourself jay28 and me and ain that was in the infancy of this forum I was flying a aerobird extreme 5yrs ago now so it shows how quick we have moved do you still have the video?

Ian, I'm surprised you're flying with the mobius as a flight camera - I thought you'd havea whizz bang WDR thing up front.

TBH I'm torn ... I have a camera to go on my Skywalker, but I'm tempted to make the worlds most simply mount like yours with simply my Mobius onboard ... doesn't make sense to have a flight camera AND a GoPro any more, let alone the expense... aaargh decisions, decisions.

I find the Mobius to be fine to fly from to be honest Steve, it does have WDR  if I need it, although with the AWB and Exposure lock I don`t use it anymore. It performs great, I don`t fly the Twinstar fast enough to notice any of the latency at all. I wouldn`t though do the same with a GoPro just because mine ( 1 and 3 Silver ) have all at some point shut down for no reason at all, where as the Mobius never has.

I also remember the wilderness before this forum. I think in the uk there was just bignose, rcmonster, magnetman and johnx. And not much flying!

If you send me your vimeo account I'll add you to view. Not used for a few years but still up there. Not sure which vid in particular. Was great in those days before all the legislation changed! Then again 1km distance was unheard of....

Thanks for posting. Want to make up a few designs myself. Like the simplicity.

Not really fancied idea of using mobius or gopro as vid cam for fear of locking up. So interesting to hear about the mobius
