Hi All
Well after a semi wild flight in 20 knots of wind I was thinking this versa is not so good in wind. Only flown once before on a calm day.

So land and discover one of the servos is flapping around inside the wing. Hot glue must have failed and it fell off.

Anyone got a good solution to get out and fix back in other than just cutting a hole in the wing and glueing back?

Would be nice to have some sort of conversion that made then accessible. Maybe some sort of removable panel.

Assuming this is not the first time this has happened so hopefully someone out there has a clevor solution .

Cheers

I tried to make one once. But staples printed the plans wrong- I had 80% wings but 100% blunt nose. Never got it to fly as couldn't get the CG right and after a few failed launches it was knackered. When built properly they do seem pretty good.

Anyway- my sky fun has plastic housings for servos. Perhaps try and get some similar and mount the servos on the top. Should be easy to change them over and inspect etc?

I had to replace the servos on mine, ended up just cutting a square out of the bottom below the servo then gluing it back on. The only other thing you could do would be cut out a square and make it hinged, and tape over it. That way you can easily cut the tape if you need access again but it won't come open unintentionally. Either that or I've seen people make a servo 'box' that would slot into the wing. Not sure that would be any easier though!

Thanks for the replies. Ended up just cutting a hole in the bottom of the wing to get to it. Skuffed up the surface this time and glued back on.

Must say I am well impressed with the concept of the Versa. Is about the cheapest possible build you can have. Great plans and cheap materials. I got some decent flights in today and it flys great. Got a bit of FPVing in as well and got the Storm working ok.  Just a little bit of fine tuning.

That aside I am really dont like the low techness. After comeing from helis which from any main brand are well designed well made works of art to hot glue and packing tape. I must say I am very impressed with what you can do with sign board hot glue and packing tape (get an excellent flying plane) but just struggle when there is a mechanical failure that you are relying on these materials.

Oh well work with what I have and get the thinking cap on for the Ultimate FPV machine .
