Hi All

Going to get a Taranis and looking at receiver options. The L9R seems to get amazing range but the manual says the RX fail safe doesn't work with Taranis. So that would mean you couldn't get the RTH to work on loss of signal for the Storm. Is that correct? Is there a work around for this problem.

Are you sure about that? The failsafe settings are something you set on the receiver and doesn't really have anything to do with tx side.

How does the storm recognise a failsafe situation?

I've got an l9r nib, will go test this with my lads Taranis now.

As expected, it seems to work fine. I put a servo on the throttle channel (any will do) set its failsafe position, moved the relevant tx stick, turned off the taranis and the servo moved to its failsafe position.

helimadness. the Storm OSD doesn't care what RX is plugged into it... it's effectively "dumb" and does what it's told.

If you set your failsafe to send a certain pulse width down a certain channel, then that's what will happen.

For Storm OSD, you program a switch on your tx to turn it into RTH mode. You simply set the failsafe on your tx to flick this switch to the RTH position.

I've got an LR9 in my Bixler running the Storm and have a Tarnis and the failsafe works fine.  I seem to remember the manual being confusing about this.  I don't know (or remember) if you don't set it from the Tarnis like you can on the X series, or you have to press the button on the rx like the older rx's.  But it most definately works.

Yes, the frsky receivers I've had all need to have a button pressed on the receiver as part of the failsafe setting procedure.

with EzUHF it's dead easy, pop your tx in the state you want and hold down the failsafe button on the tx module.

Hi All.

Thanks for the help. I have set the Failsafe up on the storm using my JRXG 7 and works fine. So understand the process.

Just the L9R manual is a little confusing. Had this highlighted in red.

"L9R Receiver is not support failsafe setting on Taranis X9D transmitter"

but apparently read else where that it is just bad wording and means you cant set fail safe from the transmitter it has to be set on the RX.

So looks like all good.

Right back to that shopping cart to click the checkout button :-)
