Funjet ultra fpv, launcher, Doms V2 ....... & need new batteries.

Hi all,
Managed to get out Saturday for my first flight in nearly 2 months.  Had some new Dominator V2's to try and after my last disastrous trip which saw me stove in not just my lovely new Z3 but also the funjet .... I had a launch ramp to try too!

Well the weather was lovely, sunny with a bit of a breeze.  I had Louis my little boy who's 6 for company and we headed off about 8am to a nice spot the local farmer lets us use.

Anyway, the ramp worked like a dream, two easy launches of the funjet ( I currently only had 2 lipos that will fit  :+  )  and the Doms were great. A big improvement on my attitudes which themselves were always very good.

I had thought setting up the ramp would be a fiddle but it actually twists at the joints if they're not over tightened  and allows it to  fold up complete but  flat with the pedal attached -  easy to open out and set up.

I've attached a vid of some of both flights combined.  Max GPS speed was reading same as before around 190kph, max airspeed 209 I think.   It's given me a bit of confidence to think about upping the performance of the funjet, now I can reliably get it launched, not just 50% of the time I don't mind spending a bit more money on it.

The Dom V2's were  great, very comfy, good clear vision right to the edge of the screen which I had struggled with on my attitudes.  The built in DVR was great for cutting out some of the tangle of wires.  I still forgot the activate it and ended up ACM'ing the plane whilst I stretched them out in front of my eyes to see if the led was flashing to indicate recording or not.  An on-screen indication would had made more sense ....  anyway was really happy with them.

After  landing the funjet after the second flight I couldn't find the bloody thing anywhere in the long grass.  I looked and looked for ages, couldn't hear the lost model buzzer for the noise of the breeze before thinking I'd look on the DVR for clues. 

I couldn't remember how to get vid playback on the Doms, couldn't get a data connection to google it but managed to ring my wife and ask her to look it up for me !    Anyway armed with the info I checked the recording and managed to figure out I'd landed as thought about 70 yards in front but at least 100 yards to the right .  I was sure it was much further  in the other direction and that's where I'd been looking.   

I'd brought the plane down in a hurry as the battery was almost dead.  When I found the funjet about 1/2 hour later it was laying undamaged on the grass but the lipo  was swollen and looking  terminal. So that was the only loss - no amount of squeezing in a vice will ever flatten it out. (only kidding!   ;D     )

Anyway , here's the vid.  lowest bit of flying at about 1:50, I might take it up higher and potter about a bit next time but just wanted to get confident again with it closer in..

By the time I'd found  the plane Louis was wet from looking in the long grass with me, also hungry too and time was getting on so we decided to head home for some breakfast, happy with an enjoyable toe back in the water after too long a break.  Next time it's the turn of the Z3 , will keep you posted !

Got out flying last night with my 6 year old lad Louis.  Paid him hansomely to do some quality hd recording of low passes with the funjet.

Ended up with quality  :+  footage and a motor that decided it was wasting it's time and might as well give up.   Think the motor death was due to a dodgy launch earlier when I throttled up to soon and caught the string at the end of the bungee in the prop.  It wrapped round the shaft and I think must have pulled the shaft forward in the motor case.  Anyway, untangled & re-launched .... got  really bad interference from the start, which I think was the motor dying and  poor top speed.  Anyway, it was up so I thought I might as well carry on !  This resulted an untimely end to the motor,  forcing a quick landing, luckily fairly close in.

It was a fun evening, flying,  fields, fresh cut grass and sunshine, lovely!  :D
