Is it possible that your 5V power source died, disabling your Rx (reason for control loss so close) and disabling your servos hence allowing it to fly in random direction without servo resistance? And your 12v supply to video gear continued to function.

I thought this initially but I powered up when I got back and the 5v BEC seemed to be OK. Kinda hoped it would be that as its a simple explanation!

Thanks for the comments guys, looks like a diamond should be on the shopping list!

I'm using the UK firmware, is that recommended?  The RX is right out on the wing so hopefully not getting too much interference! Camera is a Runcam 2, was quite surprised it survived, was completely caked in mud so that might have absorbed some of the impact! :D

Personally I'd ditch the UK firmware and go extreme hopping. The uk firmware has a lower power output.

I'd send Ritewing the pictures and say his wing is faulty in design..... mention a few math calcs and ask for a replacement for further investigation.....

you might get a nice email telling you to F*** off but worth a punt lol ;D
