First of all my heart goes out to the families that have lost their loved ones early this morning.

Just watching the bollox, sorry, the news and the speculation that the crash was an act of terrorism.

Anyone surprised that a drone has not been mentioned?

Coyote

That far out to sea ........... Even the news wouldn't be that far fetched.

I was surprised at dinner time to find the official straight away speculate terrorism.  Normally they stay well away from predictions until all the evidence is in front of them.

Well it's either going to be terrorism or mechanical failure. Given its location speculating terrorism isn't unreasonable.

It's another nail in the coffin for their tourist industry. Some amazing sights over there that at least a generation or two will miss out on as a result of the perceived fear.

All day I have been wondering if someone would post about this and a drone would be mentioned. I find a thread like this difficult. On the one hand the distance out to sea (as Coyote points out) and the sheer altitude effectively rule out a drone, except military, even for the most rabid journalist. But on the other hand I'm not sure if the forum is the right place to be having a thread like this. Like I said, difficult.
In any event it is both tragic for those directly involved and another serious blow for Egypt.

It will rule out the possibility aliens caused the crash - a theory I'm sure one of you will soon be speculating on.

Why can't people just wait for the official enquiry to be concluded ??

Yes we should all just shut up like good boys, never talk about theories and just take what we're spoon-fed by the authorities.

For rumour, speculation, wild theories and general crap read any newspaper.
For actual causes and recommendations read an air accident investigation report. These guys know their stuff and if they cannot identify every tiny little detail, they will say so. They will not be hurried or swayed because they base their reports on evidence and research, not speculation and wind direction.
Most numpties just want a quick answer and who to blame so can't be bothered beyond page 5 of a 200 page report which tells you everything that will ever be known.
