Recommendations for FPV

I just bought a DJI F550 kit for a school project that I'm working on. One of the requirements is to have FPV.  The 550 kit that I bought comes with a gopro gimbal, so I'm planning on using a GoPro as my camera. 

What can I do to have the video from the GoPro fed to my ipad or laptop live? I also need to be able to see altitude and airspeed on the ipad/laptop while it is flying.

Hi Delta,

You'll need a VTx (Video Transmitter) attached to the multirotor and then a special cable from your gopro to the VTx that broadcasts the video. Look for brands such as Immersion or Boscam VTx.

You then need a Video receiver that matches your VTx signal to pick up the video. There are a lot of receivers out there now that use both the Immersion and Boscam frequencies and can scan automatically to find your video feed.

To get the video into a laptop or tablet you'll need a video grabber such as the USB Easycap, but beware as there are lots of "fake" easycap USB devices out there. There will be a slight lag between what you're actually doing and what you see on your laptop screen as the easycap needs to digitally encode the analog signal first. Up to 0.5 seconds of delay.

As the i devices have a specialist Apple port, you may need a special cable if you want to plug your USB easycap into an i device, however I know of no such successful implementation of this. You can however use an Android device that support OTG USB as your screen and a special piece of software that recognises the easycap as a camera and displays the picture onscreen.

To get the airspeed and altitude you need a flight controller of some kind. So for example a Naza. In fact this link http://www.dji.com/naza-m-v2 shows you a kit that uses Bluetooth to get the telemetry data and also plan a route using an i Device.

It says it comes with a Naza-M V2. Will that actually show my altitude and speed on a display or would I also need to buy this? http://store.dji.com/product/iosd-mark-ii?vid=33

The class project requires me to have a GCS on a tablet or laptop, hence why I'm trying to combine the FPV display on the ipad or laptop so I don't need 2 screens.  I'm planning on ordering this today:  http://www.dji.com/ipad-ground-station 

I'll be honest with you, none of this makes sense to me right now, so I greatly appreciate the help. The assignment is due in a month, and I'm still trying to figure out all the transmitters and receivers and I'd like to try to make it as simple as possible.
