New (second hand) Twinstar

I've always wanted a Twinstar since getting in to fpv so when someone offered me one second hand it was hard to say no.

It was already part built so the biggest dilemma is what to do about the elevator and rudder servos. I already need to put the battery quite far back in the battery compartment. If I add a fpv pod and pan servo I'm going to have to me it further back and I was hoping to mount the Vector at the back..

I watched this video this morning but completely unrelated to this thread. I'm new to this fixed wing malarkey but did think how well it seemed to fly. Looks really nice flying.

Yep she is a great flyer and with the twin tractor motors a cinch to launch. I need to try her on 3s as having checked the motor specs they're only rated to 3s and on a 7x4 prop.  I was using a 7x5 prop on 4s :-D

My first FPV model was the Twinstar. I bought a spare canopy foam, reshaped it, ply plated it and used it as an FPV platform. I only have pictures of the first installation but a later one filled the ply plated area. I also made a third platform for a GoPro Hero 2 complete with waterproof case. This added 200g to the nose and all I needed do was give it 2 clicks up trim. The flight battery I used was 4500mAH. You can chuck anything at a Twinstar.
I have added some photos of the first installation. The only bit which may be not obvious is the small ply plate with the captive nut. This was inserted sideways into the nose area to allow me to screw down the platform with long M5 nylon bolts.

Fed the servo wire along where the original snakes are, feeding them in to the battery compartment presented some challenges, I used piano wire to push them through a bit of a pain but I think the results are reasonably pleasing

No I gave it to Keith when I bought the MyTwinDream. I don't think it will ever get flown again.
