I bought a couple of motors in error a 1250kv and 1100kv 2208's. They aren't selling on the classifieds section so thought I'd ask what I might be able to use them for (type of model plane) pref 3s so I can recycle my batteries and 30amp ESC .....

Any ideas welcome ....

Thanks

Hi Phil.

Something small and light.

You might be able to use one on a flight test foamboard (Versa?) wing.

Problem is with such a low KV they simply wont have much power.

The best crasher ever! I've had lots of practice.

I'm not worried about it being fast. As long as it flies and it's controllable. Thanks for the idea though, I'll take a look

Nothing wrong with low kv.

Most hotliners use a low kv motor round 900kv.

What matters is prop size and current draw in relation to end kv size.

I would suggest for the size in question try some sort of floater.    Maybe up to 1.5m in size?

Just keep the weight down and it will be fine.

Get a bit of foamboard and a carbon stick.
Go online and find a nice photo of a Drak.
Print photo, measure dimensions & angles, and transfer to foam.
Cut, bend, and hot-glue..
Voila !!! Mini Drak for ten quid  ;)
Well that's what I did when I stacked my beloved Bonsai into a massive bonfire  :o

^ and it's a LOT of fun to see your own creation take to the sky.

I would say a small slow-stick with those motors.

Remember guys, don't just look at the KV here, it's only a 2208 motor. Same diameter as a miniquad motor, only almost half the KV.

You will need something very light.

Get a pine or balsa square stick, some depron, some a miniquad ESC (tiny and light) and just experiment... heck, I'm giving myself ideas here... I've even got some depron I might be able to use and the sticks are cheap

Yep...Bonsai before inferno..

Draw & cut foamboard

Suss out the CG

Cut and glue it all in...

Go Fly !!! get 8 minutes on a 2S 800 and flies really sweet!

LOL here is the tragic Bonsai accident (not my fault at all..I was flying really sensibly)

Something super light.

What's the smallest wing on hobbyking for sale?

A flying weight of less than 600g I reckon.

A lot of faff for a £5 motor.

Having said that- everyone seems to love the flying wings thing- the tiny wing- that would fly ok with one!

Would probably work well on a flying wings hornet.

Loads of great ideas. Thanks to everyone. Hopefully whatever the motor goes on I hope it can pull or push a 3S 2900mah. I'll get the mini talon built and move onto a bodge build 😊

Snooze, I use 1250kv motors all the time running 8x4 props and 2200 lipos  tricopters, depron f14, two quads  emax ones from hong kong about 6 quid apiece. Most recently put some on a chinese cloned 330 size quad not a lot of room between props but flys great plenty of power for hooning around
