Got my FY31AP hooked up and as far as the flight surfaces - rudder and elevator - are concerned the FY31AP does nothing in normal mode and does what it should in stabilised mode etc - so far so good.

Lets check what the motor does when the tranny is switched off and it goes into RTH mode.

Nothing !!!

OK - back to normal mode. Motor does nothing.

When the flight battery is plugged in I get one beep from the ESC - then nothing apart from a short burst of maybe 10% throttle for about 1 second then nothing.

I have got it wired exactly as per the instruction leaflet (I think!!) - it looks the power comes from the ESC to the FY31 then to the receiver via the three wires to the aileron input on the receiver.

If I take the single wire throttle wire from the FY31 out of the receiver and plug the ESC into the receiver the motor works just fine.

What am I doing wrong ????

Is it right to have the ESC plugged into throttle out on the FY31 ??

Need less to say the initialisation flight is going to have to wait !!!

Any ideas????

Thanks in advance.

There has been a lot of people saying not to use the throttle out because its not very good. I`m using mine with my throttle plugged into Rx. That was if my Rx failsafes I have 50% throttle and have no worry about it not working properly.

If you are powering your Rx etc from a BEC make sure you dont have ESC`s red wire going to FY

Thanks Coyote.

I had read that the throttle control wasnt desperately accurate but it doesnt work at all !!

My concern is that if I tell it to RTH and I have the throttle plugged into the receiver I will have to manage the throttle to adjust height - but my spotter may not be able to see it or the video link could have failed ??

Seems like an important function isnt working - maybe its a faulty one??

If the radio link failed totally then FS would kick in and give 50% throttle so all would not be lost but surely it should 'do what it says on the tin' ???

Im not sure, but I would think, just like a wii board that you would have to calibrate your ESC through the FY31. Full throttle, turn on ESC, minimum throttle ? Maybe that`s the problem

Thanks Coyote - I will try that when I get home tonight - I hadnt thought about that!

@ Coyote

I was SO confident that your suggestion would work but sadly it made no difference.

Guess I will have to drop Simon a line.

Thanks for your help.

With the throttle if I remember don`t you have to program a maximum throttle input to it before it starts working ?

Dont know Coyote - nothing about that in the instructions???

Yeah just checked myself, I had heard of it though, same as the DOSD, you should have to set a maximum throttle input so it can use up to that much throttle to compensate for speed.

No one uses it though, its too hit and miss, Ali`s did the same as yours 1 second pulse then nothing, he choose option B like the rest of us, just dont use it, its more trouble than its worth
