I'm very pleased to be able to announce that we will very soon have stock of the excellent new X600D Quadrocopter from XAircraft. XAircraft have taken feedback from its customers to make the followup to the fantastically well received X500D even better than its older sibling.

We should have them the middle of next week.  More details are here: http://www.firstpersonview.co.uk/aircraft/x600D-quadrocopter

The price is £279.99 and we'll be shipping them by next day delivery once we have them.

I'm hoping to get them in several RC publications and some mainstream mags as well so I'm expecting that demand will be high.

Looks like a bargain - slightly higher-powered version of the X500D?

Mind you, the X500 said it was 500g, max 1200g, but they were actually trying to say "AUW without battery ~ 500g. Ideal take-off AUW therefore 650-750g. Will just about take off at 1200g, but not for long!".

Given the problems with occasional overheating - attach those heatsinks! - can you clarify what they are saying - exactly- about the X600D's carrying capabilities?

(Mind you, even if it's the same spec as the X500D, at this sort of money it is still a bargain!)

If they are offering add-ons e.g. height lock, direction lock, or GPS waypoints, it would be much better - are they making any noises about such things? I note that the Quadpowered board says that such things are TBA... I'm always a little skeptical about TBA...

Hi Stuart,

From what they tell me the X600D is basically the X500D-V2 - IE they've taken the X500D and dealt with the overheating problem, custom made two bladed props, some improved firmware, uprated components, etc.

I see the possible confusion with the load capacity.  I think you're right and I've changed our website (http://www.firstpersonview.co.uk/aircraft/x600D-quadrocopter).  I'll mention it to XAircraft and clarify also.

I know that XAircraft have some other models in development - the X650D for instance - which will be bigger and more sophisticated and may include the GPS features that you mention.  I'll try and get some more information on their "roadmap" and report back.

The X600Ds have arrived and the pre-orders have now been shipped out.  You should receive them on Monday.

I've built mine but I'm waiting for a LiPo and receiver to arrive on Monday so I can't comment on flying it yet.  The materials and quality of the components is excellent and the hastily translated manual was actually fairly easy to follow.  I guess that shows how straightforward the X600D is to put together.  There's nothing difficult about it, its just a case of putting it together step by step...and doing everything 4 times!

I'll be updating the manual to include an extra couple of photos and some slightly more clear translations today also.

I'm really looking forward to flying it on Monday, even if it is indoors.

All the best
