FY31AP none compatability issue

Bought a FY31AP from Simon a few weeks ago and installed it in my Easystar.

No control over the throttle at all not by the unit or by transmitter.

Contacted Simon who asked me to send it back and a new one was sent to me - throttle worked fine but no rudder control.

Simon suggested it could be the ESC so I ordered the same one he had used on his test rig - Turnigy plush.

Result ?? Perfect!!

It seems that the 4-Max 25 amp ESC is not compatible with the FY31AP - or at least the one I got wasn't.

Just posting this to give 'heads up' - Simon is going to add words to this effect on the FY31AP page on his website.

Must give full and proper thanks to Simon and his team - probelm identified in a timely and professional manner - thanks Simon!!

you could probably get round this with a separate UBEC, glade its all sorted now, Simon dose go out of his way to help.  :thumbsup:

Most people don't connect the throttle at all on this unit as it's just a throughput and the fy31 doesn't control it. Your supposed to set your receiver failsafe to 50% (or whatever your aircraft cruises at otherwise if it goes out of range and you was on zero throttle at the time it will gradually stall it's way back as the fy unit will not increase throttle to compensate. I've just bought one of these too and been reading up on them. Ali on youtube discusses this in one of his reviews of the unit.

I found with DOSD controlling my throttle results were disappointing at best so I skipped the throttle control and set in failsafe instead too
