Which NAZA controller mode for what flight style?

As someone starting out with quads, LOS to start with then FPV soon afterwards, can you guys comment on which controller modes you use for what type of flying? I'm assuming GPS when you want a very stable AP platform and Manual for sport flying am I right? What about cruising around down low doing FPV?

I use the Naza and manual mode is very lively - it can even be persuaded to do a loop or a roll. Atti mode is good for low level cruising around as is GPS mode. The GPS mode doesnt feel much different to Atti mode except it stays put hands off.

GPS mode is very good for looking at something, it lets you get in a position and be able to hold it without having to correct for wind, and you can concentrate on what you are looking at.  In any sort of wind it's handy for keeping your course setting - but you can end up with you video being on a tilt as it corrects for you.

Attitude I find is a free-er flying mode, it gives you more pitch angle to play with, so will allow you to go faster, but won't hold your course heading or position in the sky - although it will still alt-hold you if your throttle is at 50%.

I use both of them quite a lot, I would say though the biggest difference in the feel of them is what happens when you take your hands off.  GPS will slam the breaks on to hold the position, whilst Atti will self correct but drift on with it's own innertia.

I've flown manual - but it's not really needed for the type of FPV flying I do, I find I get enough out of Atti really.

Best thing to do is experiment with the modes and see what works for you really.  If you look in the narrated video thread, I did do one where I attempt to demo the differences between the modes... though there is a fair bit of mumbling along involved as well :)

i'm still very much at the learner stage, but i wouldn't think manual would be that good an idea when flying fpv. atti seems to offer plenty of control, and having seen videos of warthox, i seriously don't think one could keep up with the speed of maneuvers that a quad is capable of. (?)
