been out in the back garden again with my f330. i'm actually starting to get some where with it (often in the shrubs, oops). i'm getting some confidence, and a bit more steady left thumb. i find keeping a steady height is most challenging at the mo'. i've been trying the "pinch" style of holding the sticks, much better for my left hand (i'm right handed, and had a minor stroke about eight years ago). i'm only doing one flight per evening, if it's calm enough. might not fly much at the northern meet, don't think i'm that safe yet.

I would guess the Northern meet would have a reasonably big field to fly in.  You can build up more confidence in a bigger space like this while you can feel very hemmed in in a garden, so don't write yourself of quite yet :)

well i'm starting to feel comfortable with it now. there's just a bit to much wind tonight, just chewed a prop off on a fence post. it'll calm down in a bit and i'll finnish off the lipo.

I "invested" in a Hubsan X4 mini quad to help me with control, although its not quite the same as a 330 or 450 it helps with orientation and gives a basic understanding of flight control, and in the warmth of your own house.

The X4s are quite resilient and the props are peanuts to buy.

For me the holy grail flying LoS (line of sight) is flying "nose in" eg. flying back towards myself and remembering that some controls are obviously reversed. Oddly I don't have a problem flying a plank LoS, but a quad is a different story for me.

just finnished the lipo. pruned the cherry tree a bit more!! fences and buildings are a problem when it's windy. looking forward to the northern meet, went last time. if it's anywhere near calm, i'll be out in the field, it's huge. the mrs wants a buggy now, she doesn't think she could learn to fly, lol. i'll have to see about it. don't suppose i can argue really, after spending quite a bit on my 330 and a naza.
