Using 35Mhz with Crius AIOP/Mission Planner

Hi All

Just a quick question. When I am in Mission Planner doing the calibration for radio, all the sliders jitter around but not by a lot, when I use 2.4Ghz there is no jittering at all, I'm wondering if my 35Mhz Tx is faulty or is it just the Tx swamping signal to Rx? Any advice greatly appreciated.

Extend the 35MHz tx telescopic aerial by one section only and start to walk away from the rx. This is just like doing a range check which you should do at the start of each flying session anyway. Be careful not to get your body in between the tx and the rx. You should still have control at 30-40 paces away. If the jittering stops it is more than likely swamping. You might need an assistant to tell you if the jittering has stopped.
One thing to be aware of is that some tx output stages can get quite hot if the aerial is not fully extended. This is due to the mismatch when the aerial is not fully extended - the energy has to go somewhere and it ends up as heat which is bad news for the output semiconductors. I don't think anyone has made a list of which get hot and which don't so to be on the safe side do not have the tx switched on for long periods with the aerial retracted.

Should be. I have experienced this effect too.
