Low kv motor for Skywalker

So my 2013 Skywalker is somewhere in transit, in the meantime I've been looking at what motor to get for it and I'm considering one of these two...

...running on a 4 cell pack with something like a 12x6 prop. Whilst I've had years and years of IC experience, my only electric experience has been with my lads Bixler which came with motor and prop.

Any preference over one or the other?

Hi mate, for 4s you need a higher kv, as you'll only get a 9" prop on a skywalker. Maybe a 10" if you really push it!

I'd buy a turnigy d3536/9 950kv or better yet got with the 1250kv

On 950kv maybe use a 9x7.5
On 1250kv a 9x6 should be fine

Req 40a esc or higher

My advice... Get an OS-OMA 3820 -1200KV. Running on a 9x6. Very high quality motors for the price they are an absolute bargain. Will need a 60A ESC.

Runs beautifully on 4S.. I go 45-60 minutes with 6000-7000 MAH used.

Lots of power for the Skywalker. I only go full throttle at launch, and big climb outs. In my opinion the Skywalker flys much better with a bit of weight and a bit more power. I fly in high wind no problems and my skywalker seems to track really well.

Thanks for the replies, they differ from what I had come to understand or found when running figures thru ecalc and of you take a look at the OS spec sheet...

OS 3820 1200 4S 9x6 - 2.5kg thrust 1025 watts

whereas...

OS 3825 750 4S 11x7 - 2.5kg thrust but only 622 watts

And I was under the impression that the latest 2013 Skywalker will take a 12 inch prop as standard, hence my original suggestions.

Mine did too on that same setup! Before I sold it. It would pull 28-30a & fly for a week on 3200mah 4s!!

Did have a 1250kv for it but never bothered.

Test flew mine today with an
Ntm 3536 1800kv 5000mah.
60a plush
9x6 prop

Flew well enough.

Although it was a few circuits only.
Not even fpv'd her yet.

But a friend had goggles on.

Current draw was about 8-10a.

But can't verify it until I fly with it. (Fpv)

Bags of power of need be.

Just need to get my watt meter on it.
