New Test Pod

Hi All
I have put this test camera pod together, I was wondering if eny one else had eny ides, I cut one in light ply.
I have raised the top platform up with a gap underneath of 28mm with a 5mm gap at the front, hoping that the wind will be channeled to the VRX, without being obstructed by the camera
I have made that compartment 50mm wide I will cut out more holes for lightness on the final model and probably solar film to block the holl's and channel the air flow.

On other plastic pods ve used, on a hard landing, even with solid sides they still snapped. Do you think the ply will take much impact ?

That's watt's known as crumple zone.  :laugh: I'm shor it is, light ply has a good structural strength, I did consider cncing one from carbon fiber, it could affect the signals, I guess I could mack lots of them all slightly different and build a crash rig with some wait bolted to it, if the landing is that hared, I'm shor Ill have more to worry about than the pod, + ill just cut a new on.

I'm shor if someone wants one, I'm shor I called oblige, Has anyone put a head tracker on Bord a plan connected to the camera to keep it level and steady.

Not that ive head of. Most head trackers drift off centre so it might work for a few minutes but then start going very wrong very quick

perhaps some sort of dampened gimbal, Valentino Rossy has one on his bike camera, keeps the image vertical when he banks, looks well strange

What about using G10 board or a thinner similar material, its got good strength but is less brittle than carbon and wont block signal.

If you're going to crash it hard enough to break the pod I wouldnt be that worried about dishing a few quid on a new pod... its probably going to be the last of your worries.

Ho is Paul,  G10 bored will do it, but as you said if you hit the ground that hard, I wont cry about the pod, the camera isn't that heavy so I guess that there wont be that much inertia.
How about the design, is there any improvements to be made, I was thinking of extending the camera plat forward, to open up the pod compartment for over gubbins, and to give the camera a beter view.
