I wanted to make a pan a tilt for my Bixler. Something light, easy to put on / take off the plane and simple. I considered using my gopro, but it looked like it would be a bit heavy. I've been using a Mobius camera to record flights from the plane so I thought I'd have a go with that.

I used;
SPT50 light weight pan and tilt - added benefit of gearing that gives almost 360 degrees of pan
Pan Servo - Hitec HS-5055MG Servo - programmed for maxium travel
Tilt Servo - Hitec HS-55
Mobius camera with a lens extension cable

With the lens removed from the mobius I cut out the shape of the servo with hot knife. There was plenty of room without getting to near any of the camera internals. I secured the servo in place with hot glue. It's set up so all the mobius buttons are accessible and it can still clip into it's standard holder.

I've set it up to be controlled from the TX at the moment. I might try a head tracker, but I want to make sure it all works first. I've been pleased with it. It pans about 330 degrees and is high enough to give a good view all round the plane. I have the pan controlled by a pot on my Taranis so there's a good solid click when it is centred. I've used a slider on the side of the radio for the tilt.

A couple more things to sort out.
1) Set up the mobius as the FPV camera to link my OSD and through to the Vtx
2) See how it works in flight, I'm wondering in there will be a problem with vibrations, but it's light and my prop and motor are well balanced.

I'll upload some photos and a video of it in action shortly.

Dizzy, thanks for your kind comment.

Here's the video of me testing it.

That`s the first time Ive seen it done like that. The in flight footage should be really good with the tilt allowing a fairly clear shot down
Education and schoolin is good, but FPV is gooder :)

I took advantage of the good weather yesterday to have a test flight with the mobius pan & tilt. It worked really well.  :D (My wife was not super thrilled to come and stand in a muddy field as spotter!)

Stable, great all round view. Using the mobius to record and as the FPV camera kept things simple. I was a bit nervous having not flown the bixler for a few months. :o But it all went very well. I stuck to LOS, using a screen to check what was going on.

The next thing to do is test it properly flying FPV. The trinity head tracker module is also on it's way.

Here's the video.

I Like this, where did you get the pan/tilt from?

Nice vid could you share your settings for your möbius.. Your image seemed very balanced and mine seems to be getting dark areas when going from land to sky like the wdr isn't working... Latest firmware etc.
I may crash, but i do learn :-)

Here are the settings on my mobius, it's firmware 1.13.

Attached are the views from the configuration utility.

I got the pan / tilt from robotshop.com/eu. I got the one with two servos, but then realised the HS-55 servo could not be programmed  :( so I needed to get a Hitec HS-5055MG, I got it on ebay.  :D

I got the Hitec programmer, HPP21 PLUS, from modellbauuk.com
