FY41AP - unexpected delivery.....

I bought an FY41AP direct from Feiyu tech about a couple of months ago and was surprised to receive a Feiyu tech cardboard box through the post this morning.  It was the same size as the original FY41 delivery box and for just a moment I had an unscrupulous vision of them having sent me a second unit  by mistake ...that they would just tell me to keep (daydreaming over) .

Anyway the box contains another airspeed sensor, and just a packing note, no other info.  I wonder whether there was a fault with the original sensors and this is a replacement?  Can't see any info on their website though and I certainly didn't order one.  Anyone else received an unexpected delivery ?

Just putting the fy41 into the Zii build - but getting no osd or video out .... have flashed new firmwares .  Will tinker some more but this may be my next FY41 post ! :(

Hard to comment on the video out situation without knowing some wiring information or a few piccys :)

WARNING:- Stupid question alert

You have flashed the correct firmware to the correct part.

I.e osd to osd and ap to ap.

Easily done, often overlooked.

Hi TJ,

I'd flashed the firmwares ok but the problem was with the camera.  I'd used a new camera  lead from sc2000 in which the wires were in the wrong order, different to several other leads I'd had from them, which I didn't spot .  I'd assumed that even if the camera wasn't working the osd would show up like on the fy31ap...... because it didn't I assumed the fy41 was the problem .  on the fy41 no camera input = no osd output either.  Once I sorted the camera everything came right with camera and osd displayed.

My next guess was a boscam camera.
Think I read somewhere or isn't keen on the  boscams.

How do you rate it.

My only gripe is the non rth height in the osd.

One bonus is.

Should something happen to the plane or change to a quad etc
You can Flash the multicopter firmware to it.

So it's kind of 2 in 1.

Mark, as you are an experienced Fy-41 user can you tell me how to set up the switch modes?  I want to change the default modes and cannot find how to do it in the manual.

Hi BigT - hmmmm I'm definately not an experienced fy41 user just yet,   I ploughed a nice furrow in the ground with my zephyr 2 on its third flight and I've only just started to have the state of mind to straighten it out .....  launching it accidently in auto circle mode didn't help.....


When you say setting up the switch modes do you mean the settings within the  fy-dos software  or just how to set up 2 switches to switch between the RC/ ABM/ Auto Circle / RTL modes?

I'm using a turnigy 9x with er9x and have got one 2 position switch that is RC mode / Autobalance Mode

and a second 3 pos switch that is off/ Autocircle/ RTL       

It switches faultlessly between the modes, I can copy out the lines of programming if that's a help.

There are some settings within the FY Dos setting software for switch modes, and maybe you mean that,  but I can't quickly remember what I set them at.  I'll have to pull the FY41 out of the zephyr and plug into the pc to check,  but I think I'd have to do that tomorrow, which I'm happy to do.

Just let me know and I'll help if I can.  I'm no genius, it was all trial and error !

I'm also a little confused. .

If you mean change the auto circle mode / rth / nav for example.

At the field you can do the sequence at the bottom so you can change it without a pc.
Or connect it to the pc at them and then change at field.


① Activate the OSD setup menu: switch "ABM" to the "3D mode" 6 times in SW1, between two switching it has to be less than 3 seconds, the process is as follows: ABM → 3D mode →ABM →3D mode → ABM → 3D mode → ABM → 3D mode →ABM → 3D mode →ABM→ 3D mode. This will activate OSD setup menu interface.
② Move Elevator stick to the project you want to set.
③ Move aileron stick to the project you want to set.
④ Please put elevator stick to SAVE, after your setting.Through the stick of ailerons carried out to save the action, when saving, "SAVE" will flicker for two seconds, the end of the flashing, been saved successfully.

I have since took mine out the skywalker for now and flashed it with the multicopter firmware.

The manual for that is worse.

The best part is:-

Connected as per the manual.
Motor 1 - S1 (top right motor)
Motor 2 - S2 (bottom right motor) etc.

Now in the settings software arrow is pointing towards the nose.
Fy-41ap box with arrow pointing towards the nose.

In theory all should work perfectly well.

Test time.
Nose tips forwards the motors should speed up to level it.
Nope the back motors speed up to pile it into the ground.

Tried changing reverse and normal in tx.
Still happens.

Reflash unit just in case.
Still the same.

New the really weird part.

Changed the setting telling the ap that the box is facing backwards (it isn't)

Took off flew great.
Stable.
Attitude mode perfect (slight tuning needed)
GPS mode perfect.

Manual States get them modes working well then test rth.

Ok.
Take Off, flew about 10m away.
Quick flick to gps mode that's fine.

Flicked to rth. (About 5m up)
It went up to 20m.
Then turned 180 and flew backwards to home lol.

Then seemed confused and decided to fly away a little.
By this time it was 20m high and 10m away.

Flicked to attitude mode and got it back safely.

But no matter what I do.
It just doesn't work telling it the board is actually facing the right way.

Oh well.
I'll find out one day haha.

No doubt before feiyutech answer my email.

Hi mark what I am trying to do is change the modes on switch 1. When you open up the PC interface there is only 1 switch shown not 2 switches. Which switch is this and why not 2 switches? Perhaps it's not possible to change sw1 modes and the diagram is for sw 2

If I can remember correctly.
You can only change one. (And only 2 options)

Switch 1 for example is an override.

I.e
It takes priority over switch 2.
Only if this is in the correct position can you use the modes on switch 1.

If this makes sense.

I think I have worked it out. In fixed wing You are stuck with the defaults on SW1 which is Manual mode, stabilization mode and 3d (god knows why 3d on an drone).  On SW2 at least one position has to be NULL the other 2 can be selected from the list.
