3 blade v 4 blade

Can someone enlighten me, often seen 3 & 4 blade skews but what's the difference between them?

3 blade known as cloverleaf, used on vtx, 4 blade known as skew, used on receiver.
Better option is to use 4 blade on both vtx and receiver.

From what I understand, skews give a better all round radiation pattern than the cloverleafs but have a slightly lower gain? As a result skews are better all rounders esp on quads or planes which are changing orientation a lot.

Gonna be picky here DaveyLC. The metallic conductors of an antenna are known as elements whilst the radiation pattern of most antennas shows a series of lobes at various angles.

4 lobes are better than 3 lobes, but there are SPW and Pinwheels.

SPW have wider lobes, bent at 120°, while Pinwheels have smaller lobes bent at 90°, also the pitch angle is different between SPW and Pinwheels.

Pinwheels are 1.7 dBi, while SPW are around 1.2.

Also Pinwheels are the ones used by Montiel for his 111km record and the same ones that are sold by fpvlr.com
