One minute you're down and the next......

Earlier this week I managed to dirt nap my FPV Raptor when launching and trashed the wings and the internal wood battery supports.

My flying days appeared to be over for the foreseeable future as finances are really stretched and a replacement was but a tiny spot on the horizon.  Then today I find I'm the winner of Hobbyking's latest comment competition. I've never won anything in my life, not even a raffle where I was the only one to buy a ticket.

I was half expecting the prize to be a T-shirt or some other promo item but when they emailed me a list of what I could choose I was gobsmacked.

This is what I chose.

There were items of greater value but I chose this because all my current gear is purely functional and this will be my first scale type plane.

I think this will make quite a novel FPV platform. I have a pan and tilt platform for my camera and my goggles have head tracking so I think it might be cool to have an open cockpit view over the wings and fuselage.

Nice choice. I remember building the original nitro model with balsa, tissue and spruce. No doubt a tad heavier than this one.

Nice prize!..no.....Very nice prize, the name "Pioneer" brings back mems to me as well, I had a Cambria pioneer nitro model about 1980, all 1/4" sq spruce open rear structure & very thin ply over the front,

I'm really excited about this, so much so I'm currently looking for that 1965 classic, and the year I was born, "Those Magnificent Men In There Flying Machines, Or how I flew From London To Paris in 25 hours and 11 Minutes"

I got into this hobby purely for the technical aspect but know I've already started planning to build a hanger of classic pre-war type planes.
