Met one of my heros today

Hi all,
Yes I'm still around just with my son on school hols had no time to myself.
Anyway today I went to the airshow at Shoreham mainly to see the Canadian Lancaster which sadly went u/s yesterday and the Vulcan which did turn up.
I was wandering around the various trade stands and a book stall was Captain Eric ' Winkle' Brown signing books one of which I duly bought and spoke to him for a couple of minutes. Really made my day.

Bob one of the lads ( He`s 65 ) was at Teeside to see the same plane, he bumped into the same chap. He said he was a great storyteller who captivated everyone there and drew a huge crowd. I admit I know nothing of him, but sounds a character.

Captain Eric Melrose "Winkle" Brown, RN, CBE, DSC, AFC, Hon FRAeS (born 21 January 1919) is a British former Royal Navy officer and test pilot who, in testing 487 different types of aircraft, has flown more types of aircraft than anyone else in history.^[1][2] He also holds the world record for most aircraft carrier landings performed (2,407)^[1] and is the Fleet Air Arm's most decorated living pilot.<sup>[3]

He flew 489 types of aircraft add to this different marks, he flew 14 different marks of Spitfire alone.

There was a BBC documentary on about him a few months ago, what a guy, he can certainly say he's lived!
