hi folks

i've got a 14sg tx and a r2008 s-fhss rx on my disco.

i got it out to about 1300m last night and the failsafe on naza never kicked in, but it was starting to wobble a bit, like it would stop going away from me and right itself, then carry on etc. etc.  this was easily noticeable on the fpv goggles.

is this a sign that i'm approaching the range limit of the rx / tx combo?

i'm tempted to keep pushing it till the naza failsafe kicks in and returns me home but i'm too chicken at the moment.....

I would say so!

2.4Ghz is norrmaly On/Off so a little further it would decide to RTL

I hover my quad about 2 foot of the ground and turn of my TX to see what it does first! Give it a try! Have you not got RSSI indication on a OSD?

When Naza enters failsafe, it pauses for a second or two before going into full blown RTH or whatever you have setup, but if the signal comes back before these few seconds (I'm sure there's an exact figure somewhere, but that's what it feels liek) then you can carry on - the symptoms of which sounds like what you've described.  Going along... stop and hold level... and then carry on again.

So it's probably that you are at the limit of your control signal for this particular area/height/conditions (which may be different on another day)

cheers guys

my return to home/failsafe works no problems with the naza, i've tested it several times.  i'm just not that comfortable trying it out at that distance and at the height i have to go to to get to that distance, i live in a mountainous area.

i'm guessing the next stage is ezuhf if i want more range?

I use the 14sg with the 7008sb rx in a sw 190 and get 1800 m at 150m on a clear dry day. With that rx you get rssi fed back to the tx display. I have never got more but on damp Cloudy days get about 300 less

Edit
Dry clear day last week got 3K
