I am just about to start a new build and was planning on feeding my RX with 2 batteries.

But looking at the connectors.. It has 8 channels and an SBUS/BIND port.

I need to use all 8 channels.. So how can I feed the RX with another battery? Can I use the SBUS/BIND port? Or would I use a Y-Lead?

Use a y lead.

But really all you are doing is giving yourself some extra capacity.

If you want redundancy you need a dual input switch.eg.

That was my fear too. I was given a tip to run the RX from the same battery powering the motor.. And then anther little one as a backup, but I had a feeling this wouldn't work, and if it did, it would be bad practice.

So I think I might just drop this idea..

Er yeah that would be a very bad idea to try and parallel up a flight pack with an RX pack.

just going parallel would result in melted wires. a diode on each would stop that, but a separate BEC would be simpler and just as reliable.
OMG, IT FLIES!

What you need is a battery backer. We use them on large (>7kg) all the time. Runs two rx packs but only switches to back up if power on primary drops. SM services make them

Or a backupguard like this, but on a multirotor, receiver and FC won't do much good without any flight power - on a fixed wing it makes more sense especially if you have RTH setup, so at least it could glide towards you:
