Hi All

Has anyone ever tried fitting a 2w Booster to a 2.4Ghz Spectrum DX8 Transmitter? Is a good idea for increased range? as I read that the DX8 only outputs around 35-50mw.....

Any results, comments and advice gratfully accepted.

The boosters are wide-band (so they can support FHSS) and can play havoc with other users of 2.4ghz devices plus you'll see negligible benefits..

How far are you looking to fly and are you using DSM2 or DSMX?

Hi

I am using DSM2 and would like to fly maybe no more than 3-5 miles max :)

I thought 2W would be ample power to get that range or am I just pipedreaming?  :D

Its not that simple I'm afraid..
okies so perhaps only an LRS system for that right?

Yes UHF is the only practical solution for the range your on about. You could get there on 2.4 but not practically.
Education and schoolin is good, but FPV is gooder :)

Gundummy

Why would you want to increase the distance you have brownouts?

FPV - The unusual hobby of flying £££'s miles away from you in the hope you see it again.

BlueFlyer

never gonna get there with spektrum 2.4

frsky 2.4 has been clocked at 4km with no special antennas but 5 miles is mental for 2.4

UHF is definitely the way to go if you safely want to go further than 1 or 2km in my book

Hubsanman

Cheers Guys for your replies :) Suppose its better not to go the 2W route, not nice to swamp everyone after all :D

I've decided to go the cheap LRS route:- Orange LRS

I know EZUHF is probably a lot better but I been spending blooming too much as we all have....

openlrs has gotten much better these days, search for OpenLRSng for the firmware to put on your orange LRS gear.
